Eds, are Celtic really getting done by UEFA for showing support to Palastine?

What ever happened to Freedom of Speech?!

I'll fully understand if you don't wish to answer this in detail.

{Ed007's Note - It looks like it mate but there's been nothing official yet as far as I know, we've spoke about it down the page a bit. Would you have backed Liverpool supporters doing the same thing?}

Agree0 Disagree0

I first thought it was wrong. But after givin it more thought and lookin in to it a bit more I fully agree with flying those flags now. Hold my hands up on that 1. HH.

{Ed007's Note - Fair play to you, Sparky. That takes a real man to come on and say that, respect mate. (*)

We knew beforehand this could happen but as usual there were fans who insisted they were entitled to do it and it was the right thing to do and we've done it for years etc.
Some people don't share those opinions but other fans put their own interests and feelings before the good of the club. It's all very well standing up for an opinion and a cause but when it has a negative impact on others then it isn't really your own exclusive call to make.
Ah well, there we go, some people just can't take their blinkers off.

18 Aug 2016 13:53:56
Yes, 100%.

{Ed007's Note - I'd like to think most people would mate. The people moaning about it are definitely worth the watching.}

18 Aug 2016 14:05:47
So he's not a blouse any more then lol 😂.

{Ed007's Note - He needs to drink 10 pints of Guinness and slap Big Tam in the LRT on his baldy bonce to prove otherwise.}

18 Aug 2016 14:12:51
I would back them, yes. I don't see why my opinion or view should cause the club to get sanctioned. I also don't see why UEFA are getting involved in the political side of things. They're a Football governing body, not a political party looking to gain control.

Or are they strong supporters of certain people/ organisations?

{Ed007's Note - You've only to keep politics out of sport when it suits the paymasters. Why was this OK?

Thanks Ed. Super performance aswell. HH.

{Ed007's Note - Apart from the shady 10 minute spell that's the best football I've seen Celtic playing in the last 10 years. I said before that game that Hapoel Beer Sheva were poor but that doesn't take away from our overall performance, for 80 mins last night they couldn't get near us.}

18 Aug 2016 14:23:15
Personally i don't think this will come to much. If there had been offensive banners, possibly. Flags, nah.
Might rattle a few cages over there mind you.

18 Aug 2016 14:31:33
So are you finally beginning to like BR.

{Ed007's Note - Just because I didn't act like a giggly schoolgirl seeing Justin Beeber when he was appointed doesn't mean I didn't like him.}

18 Aug 2016 14:45:19
This is just the start for us ED! Imagine how BR will have us in 3/ 6 months time? I feel if we sort out the defensive mistakes we can give all the big teams a game! the team had me more optimistic than I can ever remember!

{Ed007's Note - I'm even teaching Yoda to howl along to the Brendan Rodgers song.}

18 Aug 2016 14:51:18
Can see both sides of argument . but where does it stop do people with right wing leanings get afforded the same right to protest or is it only left wing activists? Green peace anti whalers if we ever play a Japanese team? Is celtic park an open venue for any protest . as I get older I see these young guys as rik out of young ones just posturing and badge collecting to show how much they are politically aware and down wwith it and squirm a bit remembering my own youth when I was a plastic provo.

{Ed007's Note - This was a one off chance for the Celtic support to show their support compassion for the Palestinian people on a bigger stage.}

I was 50-50 when Rodgers was appointed, I could see good things that he'd done in his managerial career, but I also saw a lot of the mistakes he made. Hopefully he's learned from these mistakes and we will reap the benefits.
So far the football under him has been a breath of fresh air, I'm thoroughly enjoying the football we're playing at the moment and it looks like the players are as well. I hope everything continues along these lines.

18 Aug 2016 14:56:29
Aaaaahhh. he's changing his time bhoys and ghirls. that's probably the nicest thing you have said about him😍.

{Ed007's Note - :=D

18 Aug 2016 15:11:19
Ed007 just went in with caution, he saw what happened to Liverpool xD.

{Ed007's Note - I said at the time I had spent years reading Rodgers, his decisons and his tactics being ripped to shreds on the Liverpool site - and laughing at his mistakes that I just didn't get caught up in the hype of his appointment.}
