Why is the Palestinian flag causing so much debate surly it's no worse than a tri colour union jack or any otherer flag our great club has many flags from all over the world flown at our games why is this being made to be offensive.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the whole issue regarding the flag has been instigated by the media trying their best to stir up some peoples feelings on the matter and hopefully getting Celtic into trouble with UEFA so they can dramatise it in their rags and on certain radio shows.

67 Coatbridge. Surely the Scottish media are only interested in getting us through for the good of Scottish Football.
I better take a wise-up pill after that nonsense .

Think the question is whether the game should be used as a protest against the Israeli goverment and their godawful treatment of the Palestilian people, or whether the game should be seen as merely a football match between two teams from two small countries, I mean how can anyone possibly go to this match when there are people starving in Gaza, and others getting shot and getting their homes bulldozed on the west bank, I don't know how anyone with a concience can attend this match and give succour to a team that are obviohsly representatives of the fascist Israeli goverment.

Aindoh again you never fail to amaze me with bollocks you spout. Quite racist to be honest tarring all israeli with same brush. Do u think Nir Biton is a fascist as he represents national team? Or is he different cause he is part of "the celtic family"?

Bet your more than happy to attend games againist Sevco though eh?

16 Aug 2016 09:36:18
Does tongue in cheek mean anything to you?, DN30,No, didn't think so.

16 Aug 2016 09:43:03
Dn30 was it not just a couple of years ago bitton posted isrialie propaganda on his Twitter about the Palestinians.

16 Aug 2016 10:28:26
To be fair, aindoh was talking about the Israeli government. I don't think we should take simplistic positions in this. There is huge injustice in Palestine. There is injustice everywhere. Nobody can protest against it all, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't protest against some of it. And the plight of Palestinians resonates with some of our own history, in Ireland and in Scotland. The question is whether or not a football match is the place to protest. Any protest needs publicity, so a televised game is a good candidate from that point of view. Then again, I can see arguments against hurting the Club. We could ask why the UK government isn't objecting to Israeli policy, or why the press and wider media I this country aren't critical of the theft of people's land. Good questions. On balance I'm proud that we are discussing these things as a community. I'm not up for "suspend moral concerns where they might interfere with our fun". Politics is how we address matters of right and wrong in a democracy, and I don't think we can ever avoid that. But we should be canny enough not to be incited into hurting our own Club by people who wish us ill. There are no easy answers, that's the world we live in. But let's have a respectful debate, and balance legitimate political and moral concerns with the wellbeing of the football club.

Spot on DN it's a game of football nothing more nothing less jeez if you got your way aindoh the stadium would be empty support the team always.

16 Aug 2016 12:05:38
Tongue in cheek to you Mally aswell.

16 Aug 2016 12:49:09
Stephen m well how about Kayal then? Is he the same as well?

16 Aug 2016 12:52:07
Sorry never picked that up pal but seriously it's gem oh fitba.

16 Aug 2016 19:17:22
I don't see any issue with Palestine flags being waved at the game tomorrow because our fans wave them at every game but what I wouldn't encourage is people who don't usually take a flag to take one with the sole purpose of antagonism. After all it's a bunch of football supporters and football players, not politicians.

16 Aug 2016 20:08:47
Aindoh is more of the hurler on the ditch, he comes once a season man at best,
very small family.

16 Aug 2016 20:18:17
Kayal is An Arab Muslim who was brought up in Israel and that's what makes buttons comments at the time even more stupid because he said kayal was his best freind but the big man hasn't done anything stupid like that since and I don't blame him for Wht he wrote because that is what he has been brought up to believe.

And hello to you Old bhoy as well, didn't think so many would fall for my post, hook, line and sinker, but not surprised you did.

16 Aug 2016 22:23:59
Clever way to get out of post that you. made a balls of .

16 Aug 2016 23:00:10
Still don't get it Oldbhoy?, can't say I'm surprised, maybe reread it, and imagine it was written by someone who asks the question, will the waving of flags bring sanctions upon Celtic?, will the waving of flags do heehaw for the plight of the Palestinian people?, I wrote another post explaining what I meant, but it never got posted, the People waving the flags smack a little of Citizen Smith snd the Tooting popular front.
