Whats your take on de vries Ed?, can honestly say I've not heard much about him since he played up here, better than gordon?
{Ed007's Note - I didn't know that Logan Bailly's injury was ankle ligaments so we needed a new GK in as we only have Gordon and Fasan. De Vries for me is no better than Gordon, he's another cheap option but I'm hoping he's only here to be Gordon's back up, he conceded 51 goals in 48 matches last season and only managed 12 clean sheets and at nearly 36 years of age he's not going to get any better is he?
It's ridiculous that we're scrimping and scraping on such an important position yet again.}

i was optimistic that BR could have attracted a decent No 1 to replace Gordon, but this appointment has disappointed me.
Would have liked to see Fasan having a wee run, but understand it's maybe not the right time to chop and change with important games so early in the season; however, I still think Gordon is a weak link.

I posted on another comment earlier that maybe BR likes the look of Fasan and thinks we'll get another season or 2 out of CG and DDV until he's ready to step in. Do you not think that's likely?
{Ed007's Note - Well why not make Fasan his No.2? He turns 23 in January and hasn't made a first team appearance, he's not going to go out on loan because that'll leave us short depending on how long Bailly's out for.}

Ed, I can see where you're coming from but conceding goals is not always solely to do with the goalkeeper. The rest of the team have to prevent goals aswell? I trust no keeper would be as good as they can be with a team who finished 16th in the leauge.
{Ed007's Note - At other club's it's the GK's job to stop the ball going in the net, it's only at Celtic it's Efe Ambrose's fault when we concede.}

My take on this signing is to gee up Gordon, he has had no competition, so hopefully De Vries will spur Gordon to perform like he did in his first season with us.

We always seem reluctant to spend on keepers. Forster and Boruc were both on loan before we decided to stump up the cash for them and that was only about 3mil combined! Its as if we don't think we need a good keeper to win domestic games and don't feel there's value in spending big money for a few european games a season.

Gordon has definitely went backwards it's clear for all to see.
{Ed007's Note - No, it's just more people are noticing, go back and look at his many blunders and mistakes since we signed him. Flapping about in the middle of nowhere at crosses, rebounding the ball straight back into the danger area, long shots that should be covered etc.}

That bad Ed, like i said ain't heard of the guy in yrs, With all the talk of vorm etc i feel a bit deflated with this one, pal he must be rotten if your hoping he's a back up to gordon lol, Is there a fee involved?
{Ed007's Note - Yes there's a fee but it's undisclosed. I've seen everything from £500k to £2 million being mentioned, I'd go with nearer the lower one for now.}

Denayer and Van Dijk made Gordon look better than he was in his first season by mopping everything up that came near the box.

Have to say I was happy when Gordon signed but now whether it be a cross ball or a ball to feet i'm almost waiting for disaster to strike. God only knows how the defence must feel. It's an area we need to spend decent cash on to get right.

I thought Fasan was still a teenager Ed. my bad lol, don't see him getting much of a look-in in that case. He would surely have had a chance by now if BR or even RD thought he was going to be the main guy.
