I am really frustrated with the lack of transfer activity. Other teams have strengthened. Why are we dithering about like lost souls. Brendan by now should know what he requires and who goes. In the past, certain tabloids are very quiet about celtic before a major announcement. Geez, if this keeps up, it's going to be one massive announcement. Lol. I previously read and agreed with someone, why continually chase a player when a club continues to knock you back. You don't keep all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. That is if there is any truth in those rumours. If we don't qualify for champions league football, then it isn't the players fault this time, as they can only do what they can. The good players need help from other good ones brought in. Some may say I am worrying about nothing. But this group of players just scraped home last season. Rant over. One frustrated hoopy.

This same group of players would have romped it domestically last season and qualified for the CL if they had a better manager and if they don't get past Astana then it is 100% their fault as well as BR's. We've already signed one of the top prospects from the Championship, a league of better quality than our own, and a vastly experienced, Premiership winning centre back. We need to get rid of the dross and it's not always easy to find clubs willing to take dross, which might also be holding things up. There are too many folk having a go at the club for not doing the business when there are over 4 weeks left of the window and we don't know what they are or aren't doing behind the scenes. If things still aren't up to scratch by August 31st then fair enough but I'll wait and see what we end up with before being too critical. We're in the financial position where CL qualification might be the difference between getting Number 1 or Number 2 on the wishlist.

Kevin that's all well and good waiting till end of window, but I wonder if we' ll be saying that on wed night if we're out on our arse because we dithered again, have we learned nothing these last 2 years.

Guys BR knows the premiership well, he also knows the market well. He will be well aware the big boys spill the cash first and towards the end of it they have to get rid of players due to requirments and squad size.
Just maybe he is cleverer than us, what a thought eh lol.

Mallythetally no disrespect to Astana but we shouldn't need anymore than the 2 good players we've already brought in to get past them. We were the better team in the first leg in my opinion so if we throw it away tomorrow it's not because we didn't spend big. What is there to learn from the last 2 years? We were 2-0 up after 10 minutes and threw it away due to a complete lack of game management, not lack of spending. And the season before that RD forced the players into a totally new system instead of trying to get through the qualifiers first and then easing them into it over time.

Kev bhoy, I never thought there was a competition to get most numbers in . I never wanted that many in anyway as it blunts the opportunities that our young bhoys have I would rather have one of our youngsters getting game time rather than arguably slightly better player who was bought in .
Maybe another two in this window and at least 4/ 5 out.

Point is Kev all am saying is if we had signed better players earlier and they were bedded in surely you have a better chance of qualifying the ladt 2 years suggests we're getting it wrong mate.

That's fair enough and I agree with you to an extent but I think at times blaming lack of money being spent is a bit of a cop out. As I mentioned, we had Malmo beaten after 10 minutes at CP but didn't manage the game at all after that. If I had my way we'd have all our targets in already but we need to appreciate that it's not always that simple, especially for a team in Scotland. Like it or not there will be some players who will want to wait and see what our European prospects are before committing etc and sometimes the club gets stick when maybe they're doing the best they can. Obviously there have been numerous times where they've made awful decisions but all I'm saying is I don't think it's always the club's fault all the time. We might have been able to get a winger in by now but perhaps it's a guy who's played at a far lower level than Scott Sinclair (as an example) . So do we take the guy who is more of a gamble because we can get him quicker and cheaper or do we bite the bullet and play the waiting game for our obvious first choice target? It's a difficult job they have and at times it's a catch 22, especially if they go for the cheaper option and he doesn't perform well.

Sufficiently better players within our price range have a large number of options they are not going to sign for us on the Ist of July, as maybe their WAG s may want more leisure time with them and an option of somewhere more glamourous than Glasgow .

Totally agree with you Kev about waiting for the right player, I don't want signings for the sake of it I want the right players and I appreciate it takes time but with us it always seems like we're penny pinching and we're shutting the gate once the horse has bolted but regardless think we'll be OK tomorrow night.
