And we were slagging them for signing pensioners, he's just another Ambrose with mistakes all over the place and he fits the Lawwell signing policy of no transfer fee payed out, instead of taking the club forward by bringing in a top centre half we are no further forward and are left standing still yet again.

Toure is a great signing for us. loads of experience and knows how BR likes to play.
He may be 35 but is a lot better and a higher standard than anything the Orcs have brought in.

In reality what "top centre half" is expected to come to Celtic jamesbhoy67. If Kolo Toure plays the way he did the second half of last season we will be more than happy. The fact is this signing brings attention to our club even more so, and Scottish football as a whole! Even though Kolo Toure is old he'll Definetley provide a lot of expeirience and hopefully this will draft onto other players. All I have seen recently is our fans taking digs at the club. not the way it should be.

One good game he had for Liverpool last season, the rest of the season he was on the bench or not in the squad, if you read my post it said he makes the same mistakes as Ambrose, if you are happy signing someone who is at the END of his career then you're even more deluded than that penny pinching board, as for what top centre back would come to Celtic? if you offer decent wages and pay a decent transfer fee you can sign anyone MONEY TALKS.

Think youll find he played a lot last season and played well so you can scratch that opening line of your post jamesbhoy, every defender has an ambrose howler in them but to put KT in that bracket is laughable, so by your train of thought jamie carracher was a efe ambrose?, metresaker is a ambrose? . Is it because he's 35 he's at the end of his career?, seem to remember a certain david weir strolling this league into his 40s and he never had as much as KT in his locker, deluded if you think we could attract and afford a top drawer CB, and what's wi the capital letters mate? can read lower case just fine thanks.

cheers ed, thought he played a few more because of the sakho ban, what's your thought on it ED?, bombscare or good signing?
{Ed007's Note - I'm somewhere in the middle and I'll wait and see how it goes. He'll cruise the domestic games and it's good to finally get an experienced CB in there, not to mention what players like Sviatchenko, Simunovic and Ajer will learn from training and playing with him.
BUT....
He's nowhere near the player he was at Arsenal and he's not played more than 30 games in a season since his first year at City in 09/10 - that's not a good sign if we're hoping for a treble and European run.}

is the playing thing not down to a better standard of defender he was competing with ED?, does he have any issues with fitness or long term injuries?
{Ed007's Note - It's a bit of both I reckon, he had a some niggling injuries over the last couple of years but you'd expect that at his age and playing in the EPL.}

Depends on the level of skill the player had Kev in Lubo's case he was used the right way and was usually rested after 70 minutes with the job done. So i would sign a special game changing player of that age (If Pirlo wants to come i wouldn't complain lol. ) My point in the Toure signing is i would like to see us build a team for the future so would rather we bought a guy who would be playing for us for years to come.

How can we not afford a top centre half? We have just gave the board 25m plus there's the dafabet money, the magners money, the new balance money, money from strip sale's, money hoarded from previous seasons, a billionaire owner etc etc.

Just because the money's there doesn't mean that it all has to be spent on "a top centre half". Other areas on the pitch need to be addressed. And a top centre half nowadays will cost you 20m +.

Hopefully when Simovic is back we'll see a bit of rotation Ed! Also if Lustig gets moved to CB gives us a wee bit extra cover. I'm pretty happed with this signing.

Not this old chestnut again old bhoy we payed 25m into the club coffers the board hold the purse strings. And Ken when did i say spend all it on a centre half? we could get a decent one for 5m i didn't say blow all the money we don't want to end up like sevco, but i don't see why we can't pay 5m each for 3 players and up the quality in our squad.
