I see GMS is out in the papers today saying that he played injured last season. Add that to Armstrong saying the same last week, Brown being rushed back early, Johansen struggling with a hip injury, Lustig the same and Jozo playing with a broken bone in his knee.

Considering at one time that could have been half a team is it any wonder we were so poor last season?

Also with the number of midfielders on our books it is unforgivable for guys to play injured and not do their best when there are so many other players to come in.

If that was the case then the club medical staff need talking to. Players should also declare themselves unfit, managment should never let players play injured either. So we were rotten off the pitch aswell as on it.

Managers will always let a player play injured if he thinks it is best for team.

The diet consultant was not all he seemed to be, infact he was nowhere near what he seemed to be. Building a team of cloned super strong athletes seems now but a pipedream. Thank your gods that experiment had been shelved.

09 Jul 2016 12:54:12
Why/ how is that a pipedream TTTS? If more of our players have it in their routine and mentality from an earlier age there's no reason it can't work. And anybody that can't adjust their attitude towards diet, for their own progress and career, probably aren't ideal professionals to have around anyway.

Sounds like GMs making excuses for poor performances, Johansen was out injured and failed 2 recapture his full fitness however still played well enuff, certainly better than some and his work rate is 2nd to none. Jozo played injured unknowingly, and didn't play after realising the issue, as for lustig he has ongoing issues so wouldn't class him in that category. Brown and Armstrong are workman like players that graft and Rd felt we needed that type in the team, for me injured or not you play and you still give 100%, if you aren't able to then the player has to say to the manager. This drives me crazy, you play football your whole life n some get 2 Celtic or whoever they sign for and it's like I didn't play good as I was injured, I can't play in a 4231 as I don't know where to stand or I'm being played on the left when I want to start central or the trainings 2 hard for me or I'm not chasing back I'm a forward etc etc I could go on but it's embarrassing. At least Rd took the brunt of the so called blame, despite many others failing him. Ah to be back in a time where football was proper n players weren't pansies and all about money.

Is ridiculous to say, that you play injured or not, total madness, not only is the player risking long term incapacity after his playing career is finished, if your injured, you are a weak link in the team.

09 Jul 2016 14:51:18
In my opinion, we should be slow to either endorse or condemn the players who played or were required to play whilst not fit . We have no idea of the extent of the injuries last season, or the long term consequences of playing through the injury.

09 Jul 2016 15:03:39
I'm talking about the deila experience Jim Tim, it was a disaster from day 1.This is what this guy claimed to be his niche. We are now hearing of teams going on to the pitch with unfit players. So it is as plain as black and white that RD and HIS ideology were but a pipedream he was never in a position to deliver.

09 Jul 2016 15:54:47
The bottom line for me is that you aren't fit you can't give 100% and you are short changing yourself as a player and the fans.

It could be an excuse for poor performances as someone suggested but with 17 midfielders on our books we can't say that any of these guys needed to play injured.

09 Jul 2016 17:21:10
I M O I find it hard to count 17 midfielders in our squad . I have often seen us with a thin enough squad of midfielders for particular games .

09 Jul 2016 17:26:39
Guys managers play unfit players all the time.
Martin oneill played big mjallby on injections all the time.
Can mind him rushing agathe back for an old firm match and agathe ended up out longer.
It shouldn't happen but if you ask most old pros thetc will tell you it happens all the time.

09 Jul 2016 22:02:26
Point taken with Mjallby but that was when we had big Bobo and Valgaeren beside him plus he was a machine.

Bitton, Brown, Stokes, Boeriggter, Armstrong, Commons, GMS, Christie, Rogic, Allan, Mulgrew, Johansen, McGregor, Forrest, Roberts. There's 15 old Bhoy. 17 must have included Ajar, Nesbitt and Henderson with Derk out by that point.

Nialh I hate to contradict u but surely you were referring to our current squad . We may have a bloated mid field in relation to numbers but Stokes is gone and Mulgrew isn't our footballer either, so at a stretch I make it 15 not 17 including Nesbitt who is very inexperience and is probably not ready yet .
