@bhoywonder so you guys would be happy to go to millwall on a Monday night would you? How about swansea for a first round cup tie? IMO the idea of Celtic moving leagues is ridiculous and should never happen we are a Scottish club of Irish heritage not FU***NG English. I am a Celtic man till I die couldn't and wouldn't support anyone else but if what you suggest were to happen I don't think I could back a club that would turn its back on its nation of birth for money. Let's face it the comparison between English and Scottish leagues isn't much different just money and fan base (which is cause by the fact they have 10x the people we do) . Honestly I would be embarrassed to call myself a Celt if that happened. I do however think the rest of Scotland would benefit if the Celtic monopoly of titles ended, but IMO that is the only positive that could come out of this. As another poster said I could not stand by and watch this great club become a mediocre mid table ''English team'' like Swansea for instance.

wind your neck in dbhoy, was a question between friends, and if your going to come onto a post and spit your dummy you should read the full post, where does it say that i want a move to england? ( think it says on my post i'd stay in scotland) , read the full post next time before you post a wee temper tantrum.

Yes i'd be happy to go to these places, sounds better than going to the barren wastelands some teams call football stadiums up here. It would cease to be an English League anyway with welsh and scottish teams in it. They say those who can adapt to change are the greatest survivors, you obviously are happy to stick to the same old guff. You can't stop progress mate, changes in the game will happen eventually, borders are only man made lines. i'd follow celtic no matter the league. By your reckoning everyone born in Scotland musnt ever leave, bit of a dodgy stance pal.

you tell um wee man.

08 Jul 2016 17:58:39
Watching pish like Ross county umpteen times a season doesn't make you anymore proud to be a Scotsman
Let's take the show on the road and have a party!

Bhampot, 2022 or there abouts. I'm for it.

08 Jul 2016 21:08:37
Rglen8, defos there will be change, and i think your right, early 2020s, Be it a British league or European league, who knows.

08 Jul 2016 22:21:50
Apologies Bhoywonder my post wasn't towards you personally it was to the conversation in general just used your name as you were the OP.

As for you bhampot (the name suits ;) . ) why would you want to become a mediocre team in a rich boys playground because that's exactly what we would become. No matter what you may think we could/ would not compete with the spending power of the top BPL teams plus it would take years to even get to the premiership anyway so you would be playing league 2? Travelling all the way to the south of England for a midweek league fixture? Why not put the same energy into improving Scottish football as a whole? Would with the other clubs to improve facilities etc. I know it wouldn't be the best idea in terms of business but surely even you cannot like what football has become? We could be showing other teams how to create top academy's for young players and what kind of facilities they should try to get and how to do it. I think this obsession with Europe is getting out of hand. This is all just my opinion and just like yours too means very little what will happen is out of both our hands so I guess we will have to wait and see. Until then let's focus on backing the team to another title in the league we are currently in.

Sorry Dundee bhoy, you speak like we owe the Scottish game something? Why do we? Celtic football clubs position for me is to do whatever is best for Celtic football club . Whether that be in lower leagues of England or staying in Scottish league I don't know . I don't think we have a commitment or duty to anything other than what is best for us
As for the comparison between English and Scottish league not being much different! Really?
Miles apart
Luckily people hopefully far more knowledgeable than us with much more heavier wages than I get for sure will get to make these decisions . You'd hope anyway .

But for me anything that will benefit Celtic will do for me . What makes you think we'd become a mediocre team like Swansea . Besides that's a slur on Swansea who seem like a great club to me . Pretty similar attitude to the numerous English clubs who look down on us .
Be the best we can possibly be is all I want from Celtic.

Dundeebhoy we are a mediocre team in a poor boys playground so I don't see the point? We have a regrettable cash boost this season but not much bud.

08 Jul 2016 23:20:09
Still think we have potential. If I didn't then what's the point!
Hail.

08 Jul 2016 23:28:19
By the way, anyone noticed some of the Celtic fans tweets to summer harl on Twitter . Jesus she's beautiful and I'd leave my partner for her but get a grip . Cringe worthy.

Dundeebhoy, i don't agree we would be a mediocre team, far from it. We would expand big time. Celtic as a brand would be a massive lure for players sponsers and the like. Iv heard all the garbage too many times about improving scottish football, it is a footballing basket case, all our decent youth go where? . yes England. Too many clubs in scotland for the population for a start. Too many games against the same teams. Its as dull as dishwater mate. Like it or not mate, money is where its at, And Celtic are a business. We have to look at developing our club, not scottish football? God knows they sh*t on us for long enough.

09 Jul 2016 00:04:32
Bobbygall67 spot on mate, Celtic and only Celtic is where all our energy should be going. The club will lead us all on our journey where ever that may take us.

Dundeebhoy. Appreciate what your saying about being loyal and local. But u need to see the big picture m8. I'm really sure that the Welsh teams in the EPL are proud of where they are from too. But the riches and benefits that come with playing in England are what it's all about!! Say we go there and after 6/7/8 seasons, however long it takes, a club of our size and support can only take us forward. It's all about progressing m8, only a fantasy now, but can u imagine us signing the top players in the world? Because eventually that is what would happen

{Ed007's Note - By that time the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City will be in the European super league and taken all the money and best players with them and Celtic fans will want to leave the British league for the Euro league.
As soon as the rules are changed that allows Celtic to join the English league the elite clubs in Europe will leave their leagues and UEFA to go it alone - and Celtic aren't invited.}

i understand what you guys are saying and the logic behind it but surely you can see what has happened to the once ''big clubs'' like villa Leeds etc? Who knows if we would suffer the same fate? As for Scottish football crapping on us we have to remember we have played our part too, the old firm hoovering up Scottish talent to let it sit on the bench because our highly paid under performing foreign players are getting the game time. I bet if the sfa set a minimum 8 Scottish players in the first 11 we would soon see the league become more competitive. The decision is and will not ever be ours to make I just hope we don't go crawling to England begging for some of their money. Because that is essentially what we would be doing. As for my comparison between the national leagues if you strip the multi millions teams receive down south you would soon see it become what Scottish football is. Plus I'm sure if sky gave us a 1billion pound deal killie would be buying top players too. The problem is not the league or the clubs the problem is money.

Surely UEFA will ban all "Elite teams"! and Elite Players from playing in Non Elite teams and National and European Leagues .
Players should be banned for a period such as 5 yrs after playing "elite football"
Remember when Kerry Packer had the "elite criketers" and they were banned .
The ban eventually ended the Packers circus.
