Interesting words by Harry Redknapp.

"Dermot Desmond is top man for me, I like him very much and I know what Celtic means to him - he tells me often enough whenever we see each other. "

"If, as it seems, he's going to have a real go again then it's going to be incredibly exciting for all Celtic fans. Dermot is a serious businessman and not someone prepared to ever settle for second best. "

I will never go back on anything I have said over the last few seasons for me DD and PL didn't need to downsize we had the chance to do the exact opposite and create so much of a gap between us and the rest we would never be caught. However the chance is still there to do it this summer so i'm really hoping this is the summer where DD becomes more involved and starts using us as his club not his toy. let's see him at AGM etc, let's see him show what this great club means to him. PL can take a back seat and do all he does that is good because the things he does badly does him no favours. I want to back these men i want them to make Celtic the great club it can be. no more using the death of Rangers as an excuse to downsize, When O'Neill arrived we gave him the tools to make us a team that were feared throughout Europe and other clubs would come to Celtic Park knowing they would have to fight like hell for 90 minutes to come away with a goal never mind a result. The fear factor of our fortress has gone but we can get it back. If i can back this Board after everything i have said recently i think anyone can, I guess what i am trying to say is it isn't just DD and PL that can make Celtic great again we have a part to play also. All i needed was a positive attitude from our Board and they would get the same back from me, I very rarely miss away games but i stayed away from home games last season and trust me it wasnt easy. The Board invest I invest, Whether it be 2 season tickets and the usual raid the superstore for everything possible then so be it. The signs are good and it can only have a positive affect on us all. I think we have the right man in Rodgers to take us forward and i have enjoyed listening to everything he has said since he arrived, The emails by the Club are also refreshing and a nice touch so long may it continue. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.Let's do this Celtic!

great post stan.

That's why for ne, Stan, I'm not on cloud 9 like a lot of fans who seemingly think everything is going to be alright now. The playing side of things may improve, I'm not saying they won't; but the attitude of the club needs to change and hopefully stumping up for a reputable manager is just the start. We need a proper DoF too.

Would Harry Redknapp go down well as a DOF Jim?

25 May 2016 10:43:39
Why do we need a DOF. We have a very competent manager now. It would be different if we still had deila or got Keane. But Rodgers doesn't need one.

Not sure about that marco. The model now, which works, is having somebody bridging that gap between boardroom, scouting and football development. If BR can do all that, like an old school 'manager' then fair enough. As long as it's not JP influencing PL I'll be happy. I still don't believe for one minute PL saying RD was in control of all aspects.

As for Redknapp Stan, I'd be inclined to say no. Spurs are getting much better players through with Baldini there, who took over just after HR left I think.

Can't say if we need one or not but haven't the top clubs in Europe been using them for years. A DOF can oversee every aspect of the football side appointing one doesn't mean they are in control of the 1st team and will be looking over Rodgers shoulder and interfering. Maybe someone with more knowledge can post what roles they would bring or be involved in.

Sorry Ed I don't know how I managed to post the same thing twice.

{Ed001's Note - no worries fixed it.}

Jimtim and stan19 agree with both of you in regards certain points and aspects. If br likes to do it all, without the need for a dof then I'd be fine with that but if not then yeh maybe a dof in if it is to the benefit of the club, for instance someone with European experience, even international and an eye for a good player, at least at giving the manager various optionshowever, as well as seeing the club ethos, mentality, culture, as well as youth coming through and being ready for the first team, sports science is all working as it should. however I'd like to see the manager bring in his own players. Keep harking back to it with Rd but when u buy the players u no what u need and want, who can play how u want, and also their attitude has to be right, meaning u don't get stuck with guys that don't have it, can't play how u need and are time wasters or just not good enough. Also goes the other way, prefer the manager to have the say over who leaves, as keeping bad eggs just causes an atmosphere. Hail hail.

Can't disagree with any of that Bigshaw.
