Alrite ED. so Do u think we should read anything into Desmond's statement of a new man being in within 4-5 days mate? Really hope they pull out all the stops for Rodgers mate! Would hate to get our hopes built up then end up with a McKay or Clarke! Thought the statement today from the club about There's no prefered candidate was a strange one by the way! Why even bother releasing that? Unless it's there way of saying don't be getting your hopes up because we'll ultimately get let down!

{Ed007's Note - If what Desmond said is true then he kind of contradicted the statement from earlier. I'd have thought that if the new manager would be in in 4/5 days time they must know who the main target is unless something was decided between the statement on the website and DD making his statement.}

Agree1 Disagree1

That's exactly what I thought mate. why go to the bother of releasing a statement then a couple of hours later the guy who is essentially calling the shots comes out and says Rodgers would merit the job and theyr hoping to have a manager in at the start of next weekend! Very odd indeed mate.

18 May 2016 16:18:53
Could be they have narrowed it down to the last few?

{Ed007's Note - It could be but putting a time scale on it makes me think he knows what;s going to be happening. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been a bit liberal with the time scale and we'll hear something in the next 2/3 days.}

18 May 2016 16:19:58
I am sure Celtic are at an advanced stage with atleast one candidate apart from some details of his contact or job remit But until he signs on the dotted line obviously they can't say and I am sure that they will have a plan B in place just incase.

18 May 2016 16:42:26
Yeah that was a strange one. They might have been really impressed by one particular person but are willing to give the rest a chance to change their minds before pulling the trigger on it.

18 May 2016 16:46:53
Or Celtic have agreed already but not releasing who it is until the weekend take some of the heat of the cup final?

18 May 2016 17:19:44
That's a clever train of thought Ed if I do so myself (DD/ liberal/ timing) all these big power bosses tend to factor "a bit of slack" in things for themselves (y)

{Ed007's Note - Mentioning 4/5 days and then announcing something in 2/3 days = round of applause for DD, he must have really pushed the boat out to get his man etc etc. I would say it's great PR but it's probably best we don't go there. :=D

18 May 2016 17:53:14
Certainly sounds like they have a man in the crosshair. I'd second guess it's just a case of tying things up now.

18 May 2016 17:51:28
Or what if it goes the other way ED and we're still wondering this time next week who the new guys going to be! Won't make DD look to clever will it bud! lol. u would think a guy like him wouldn't make a statement like that if he didn't think it wouldn't happen but eh!

{Ed007's Note - Exactly mate. With him putting a time scale on it he has put himself under pressure to deliver on it. Fingers crossed we've got something to celebrate soon. (party)

18 May 2016 17:53:20
Just read that he said six people have been interviewed

18 May 2016 17:58:19
Would love Brendan paraded on the Celtic way nx couple a days think the only thing holding it up might be this severance pay fae lpool but hopefully DD will offer wee Brendan a sweetner.

18 May 2016 18:03:48
I think there is as much anticipation and expectation as there was when MON was appointed due to the obvious requirement to improve quality and standards at the club.
Like many of us I don't want to build my hopes up as we all know where that can lead, but I don't think the club could afford an anti-climax situation with so many hopeful fans and numerous detractors and critics waiting in the wings.
It would be a great headline grabber in cup final week and a boost for the support if we manage to land The likes of Rogers or similar stature and a statement of intent to all.

18 May 2016 19:19:37
Im happy with anyone as long as its not that thug.

{Ed007's Note - Move on man (rofl)

18 May 2016 19:46:16
Can't see Rodgers rolling up at Celtic Park. He loses £10 million from his Liverpool pay off if he takes the Celtic job (unless he just loses the amount we pay him off his settlement) . The only way is if he does a deal with Liverpool for £5mill or something or sits on his backside for 2 years and they need to pay him £10m but I just can't see him walking away from £10mill to take on a job probably paying him no more than £1.5m at best? Does anyone know what RD was on? I know he has been in football for a while but the big money for him was Liverpool. Before that he would be on £2m a year at best. DD is not going to bankroll him for £6 or £7 mill is he?

18 May 2016 19:26:27
Yeah, Passing time, it would appear the consensus on here would largely be quite happy with BR. Given what we've been linked with (Malky/ NL) I would be. To be fair I didn't think we would have a chance given what he was on at Liverpool. I doubt we'll match those wages but it's still a decent statement from the club. BR Wasn't top of my list, but as you say, setting your heart on any one individual would only likely end in disappointment.

18 May 2016 19:59:18
I'll no be able sleep nxt 4-5 days now cheers DD.

18 May 2016 21:17:37
Just trying to get a bite aff aindoh ed lol 🎣🎣🎣🎣.

18 May 2016 21:39:32
Agreed again Ed, Also factor in mate achieving it in this timeline will take a bit of the gloss off of the zombies in the cup final it will have been an all round well managed exercise

Either that or it will be the unseen fenian hand at work :P.

{Ed007's Note - And it would be dealing a cracker!}
