How will fans react if Tierney goes for £10 million. Great wee player but £10 million?

Me I would be disappointed and show again a lack of ambition. Don't think the bhoy wants to leave so enough grabbing money with a fairly substantial queue of players in front of him.

Tierney should be groomed for becoming a captain and legend!

Which toe are we selling for 10 million.

17 May 2016 10:01:31
End of the day it all depends on the player now a days.
If player wants to go he will go.

17 May 2016 10:06:00
You seem to be contradicting yourself, you say you would be disappointed and it shows a lack of ambition then you say " but £10 million? " Which suggests a very good amount. If we had a £10million bid in summer I would sell him no question as he isn't worth half that yet and if invested correctly could enhance several areas. I don't expect him to leave this summer and hope we get several top seasons out of him before getting a big money move. I don't think there is a player in Scotland worth 5 million so to accept 10 million shouldn't be seen as lacking ambition rather common sense.

It's not enough. I was laughed at on here saying 12m for Virgil was robbery. Doesn't matter who the opposition is, you can see when a player has class and huge potential. KT has both. 10m ain't enough. We can still get several good seasons out of him AND sell him for more than that the rate he's going. I'd be gutted.

17 May 2016 10:44:36
It's sad that the direction the club has chosen has us putting a price on players who have barely started out.
I am not naive enough to think players will commit their career to Celtic like in the past, but the board now see the pound signs far too soon instead of trying to secure our best prospects and protect the interests of a manager trying to build a half- decent side, or the supporters paying to see the best team available on the park.

17 May 2016 10:53:16
There's not a chance he'll be sold, not yet anyway. The new manager will be wanting to work with him and the board know that if we can get into the CL next season and Tierney hugely impresses there at his age and potential then we can almost name our price. Who knows we may even be able to break the £15M barrier. I fully expect him to sign the new 5 year contract offer he's going to get over the Summer on improved terms as he stated he wanted to do that '100%'. He'll be here at least a few more years imo.

17 May 2016 11:16:50
Passing time Your wrong to blame the board all the time imo. fans need to accept we play in a very poor league and any decent foreigner wouldn't want to stay in this league any longer than he has too particularly when it is a good stepping stone to the riches down south. The board will look to extend tierney and hopefully we get a couple of good seasons from him but a big offer should be considered as although tierney looks a great prospect you never know what might happen look at izzy for instance great player then breaks his ankle and has never been as good since. Also remember it was a fan not the board posting a question nothing more. Ps the board have many failing but not everything is their fault.

17 May 2016 11:58:29
See this constantly blaming board it puzzles me.
How many of the players that left wanted to stay and we're forced out?
Mathews asked to leave
Hooper asked to leave
Wanyama asked to leave
Van dijk asked to leave
Forster asked to leave.

Look what Robertson at Hull is now worth, Tierney is better.

17 May 2016 12:26:51
As much as i scream for investment i would love 11 guys like Paul McStay. I hope Tierney is the first of many, Young lads coming through the system who have sat in the stands watching their hero's and are now living the dream. You make a good point about players wanting to leave Kev, The likes of Tierney etc can bring loyalty with ability and you can't buy that nowadays. Players like Henderson and Nesbitt now need to be looking to match what Tierney has done he has laid the marker for all youths at the club. if you are good enough you are old enough.

17 May 2016 12:28:18
Jim1972 is a poor league your excuse?

17 May 2016 12:35:22
Stan 19 Robertson went to hull and proved himself and his value soared the same thing has happened with Forster wanyama vvd it's just a fact our league is limited and we won't get the top price as it's still a gamble buying from Scotland but if you prove yourself against better opposition (not spfl) your value increases.

17 May 2016 12:53:24
Jim i would hope the success of Virgil etc has shown that it isn't a gamble, With all the cash these Clubs in England get they should be made to pay whatever we decide they are worth. There's players in Div 2 down there going for more than 10m. I don't know what Tierney is worth at the moment it is probably irrelevant as i can't see him going anywhere anytime soon. Plenty to learn yet. Tell you what Feruz must be worth a good 20m by now ;-)

17 May 2016 13:13:49
Stan19 the difference is that clubs down there make so much money from TV etc. that they can afford to knock back big offers for players and make the bigger clubs pay over the odds if they want their man. We don't have that luxury and therefore can't afford to play hardball to that extent. We could maybe say we want £12m instead of £10m but that's about it. So realistically a player's price isn't based solely on his ability but how much money his club can afford to knock back before selling. Sad but true.

17 May 2016 13:48:13
Ok dn what are you on about "is a poor league your excuse" for what?

17 May 2016 13:53:33
It is a sad way of doing things because at times it feels like we receive a bid for one of our players and it is accepted almost immediately. There never seems to be a hard bargain or wait until other clubs start a bidding war we take the money and run. It will be interesting to see what PL does when the first official bid comes in for Tierney.

{Ed007's Note - I don't agree with that, Stan. For all PL's faults there's no way he would let anyone leave without him making sure we were getting as much as possible for them and with sell on clauses etc involved you know the club has negotiated and negotiated hard.}

17 May 2016 14:19:19
For anyone to say PL doesn't get the best deal possible for a player leaving our club is nonsense

17 May 2016 14:22:26
Maybe one day i'll praise him Ed. I know myself he does plenty in that regard as he certainly did decent clause with the Southampton trio. He better have done the same with Ross Wallace or he will feel my wrath haha.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not sure anyone can be unhappy with the £ he has brought into the Club. My problem with him is his interference on the footballing side and the way he spends the little £ we have to spend.}

17 May 2016 14:52:40
We can only hope the new manager is strong enough to put a stop to it. We don't need a Romanov.

17 May 2016 14:54:18
I think we did really well to get over £30m for the Southampton trio. Obviously they're being touted for far more now but even back when both OF teams were full of international stars maybe 10 years ago you very rarely heard of any bids like that from down south.

17 May 2016 15:09:55
I think they will all move on to bigger clubs and Southampton have Virgil and Fraser tied up on long term deals so will demand big bucks. Not sure how long Vic has left on his contract.

{Ed007's Note - Wanyama's only got a year left on his deal and is stalling on signing a new one so don't be surprised to see him move this summer to maybe Chelsea (although interest has faded) and possibly Spurs looking at him. The interest from both Manchester clubs has ended.}

17 May 2016 15:54:49
Cheers Ed, I was at the Everton Southampton game about a month ago and Victor looked way of the pace. Don't know if he was carrying an injury but for most of the game it looked like he was happy to play just infront of the CB's.

{Ed007's Note - I think Wanyama fancied a move last summer and when nothing happened his head has went down as he had a very average season from what I seen of him.}
