Forget bout new manager and All that this has been annoying me for a while now i understand wee jay had his moment an all that but is it no about time attention is now passed on to other kids who are as just as devoted to the hoops there is kids who are in the same and even worse situation than jays who i reckon deserve their recognition in the celtic family! I kno folk will think am out of order but its true there is a lotmore worse off than jay devoted to celtic.

Agree11 Disagree2

14 May 2016 02:12:58
Your not out of order stef88, i think the same. Every child who is poorly should have opportunity to experience the same not just Jay.

14 May 2016 06:04:44
i sorta felt bad for thinking the same way about the situation while i'm glad wee jay has had the time in the light to raise awareness of downs maybe make other's with differing illnesses club mascot to help raise the awareness of their particular issue but without turning it into a pr stunt like i feel it's becoming with the thai tims and wee jay.

14 May 2016 09:00:06
The fact that you guys have expressed your opinion shouldn't make you feel bad.
However this inosent young Man is now a focal point of Celtic and all that is good about the club.

Celtic have enough resources to ensure lots of Children are stimulated in the same way my concern is children who have developmental issues often need extra reassurances.

I think some of the team picked up when Samaras moved on anyone with an ounce of dignity would have done the same thing well done to the team for making the wee man part of the club it's certainly more obvious now and will be more of an upset in not allowing Jay to carry on Hail Hail Wee man some of us are just Lucky 🍀.

14 May 2016 09:07:35
What a world we live in who even thinks like that. Wee Jay is a great wee ambassador for Celtic love seeing his wee coupon light up when Celtic play. Know people want to tell him to get lost sad day. Pr stunt with the Tia Tim's a young Celtic fan lost his live in tragic circumstances who had been over teaching these young kids English by learning them Celtic songs. Celtic brought them over after it. Was at parkhead for a POTY dance when they were there. Wasn't a dry eye in the room wonderful Celtic occasion. These two things are good that Celtic are doing and grown men are complaining get a grip. Sad lives you live if you have been thinking about this for ages.

14 May 2016 09:41:59
How is it sad that i think other kids should have a chance to have the same attention and experiences?

14 May 2016 09:54:41
I have no problem with Jay getting brought on to the park etc. and have no wish for the club to stop it but it definitely seems as if the club could include more than just him in these things. There surely must be lots of kids in similar positions who would also benefit from meeting their heroes.

14 May 2016 11:16:22
I love little Jay to bits . but maybe the club could go round all the different kids charities every month or so and give other young fans the chance to be with there idols on the hallowed turf.

14 May 2016 10:51:27
Steph

I don't know what age you are? . but your really making an issue of something that's really better left unsaid .

Some children just have a knack of being infectious to those around them others like yourself just need to lighten up. Pen a nice letter to Ronny before he goes and he might invite you to the game tomorrow or even give you his autograph.

Never get tired of watching the hoops lift the championship Hail Hail Amigo 😜.

{Ed007's Note - Why's it best left unsaid?}

14 May 2016 11:36:30
So i am a child because i think all the attention shouldn't be on one child my point was i think there are other kids who should be given the same chances that's all basically the wee fella has had his turn maybe its time for someone else to have all the attention.

14 May 2016 11:56:43
A think it's a touch of class what celtic do with wee Jay but it's true what you're saying steff there's a lot more kids out there that would love the opportunity to be in the spotlight. Maybe celtic could start a disabled football team, Partick thistle do one for kids with walkers, am going to sign ma bhoy up to it but we'd both prefer celtic obviously. Hail hail

14 May 2016 12:24:41
Celtic do lots for disabled kids. As a club and individual players. Plenty of stories of good thinks that get done (if you know your history) . Autism, sick kids, disable functions where players meet and greet. Remember it's not all rosey for wee Jay as well as his disabilities he's targeted by trolls on social media not every parent wants that for there kids. Great wee ambassador for Celtic hope it continues for a while yet.

{Ed007's Note - If the parents were worried about it I'd like to think they would remove their child from the situation.}

14 May 2016 12:25:45
John67 so you don't think its unfair that other children shouldn't get a chance to be ambassador? Nobody is saying anything bad about Wee Jay If that's what your thinking, just club should give others the chance.

My eldest daughter had cancer a few years ago and the treatment she recieved at hospital was superb making her fully recovered and rehabilitated. We were lucky and i thank the lord everyday. Point i'm making is there is a lot of sick children who are gravely ill, having chance to be ambassador of club would go a long way towards taking families minds off situation by experiencing the privilege.

14 May 2016 13:25:28
Glad to hear your daughter made a full recovery mate. Every time ma bhoy goes in to the hospital I'm reminded how lucky we are, there's lots of kids that don't get to go home from there.

14 May 2016 13:31:12
DN30 First I'm happy everything went well with your daughter. Must have been hard time for your family.

Wee Jay has built up a special bond with the Celtic fans (apart from this forum) same way wee Oscar Know did. Never known the club to make a child a club ambassador. Personally thought it was a nice gesture. Not a PR stunt as suggested it will come to natural conclusion.
Grown men saying he's had his time, it's a PR stunt and this topic is more important than the next manager baffles me.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can't adopt every African baby. Celtic and the players do a lot behind the scenes to make our disabled fans feel special.

{Ed007's Note - Fancy telling everyone why this isn't a PR stunt?}

14 May 2016 14:11:33
Who said its more important? I just think its time to focus on others who also deserve the chance to experience what he has had nothing wrong with that.

14 May 2016 14:27:01
I find it more disconcerting that people feel this type of stuff can't be discussed.

14 May 2016 13:55:33
So would I pick Sami Kevbhoy, Everytime before Cole or CKR .

14 May 2016 13:57:01
Ed007 maybe I'm not as cynical as you. Your the man with the inside knowledge you tell me why it is a PR STUNT.

{Ed007's Note - It was a simple enough question and it's nothing to do with inside knowledge - it's obvious to anyone with at least one half decent eye. Look at the amount of PUBLICITY it all gets and look at the PR STUNT they all pulled with the cringey as (swear) Goal of the Month competition. That was so bad that David Brent would struggle to come up with something like it but look at the PUBLICITY the story got Jay, children's charities, Downs charities, the Club and the whole of Scottish football. Even the most gullible of people must surely see it for what it is without trying to dress it up.
I don't see why you're getting so defensive about it but can I ask you again to explain to us why it isn't a PR stunt? I think you're the first person I've ever heard disagree.}

14 May 2016 14:46:53
The goal of the month was cringe worthy and totally undermined the competition. Had blocked out of my memory- thanks a lot ED!

{Ed007's Note - I didn't want to bring 'sporting integrity' into it, TPP.}

14 May 2016 16:03:12
Ok it's all a PR STUNT Jay/ Tia Tim's Homeless campaign, Disabled function Autism campaign. Celtic board hang your head in shame.
After the stimulating debate I have opened my eye's to the cynical tactics used by Celtic.

14 May 2016 17:26:41
This is supposed to be a banter page not about child protection issues. We have enough debate with current Scottish government legislation trying to deploy safeguarding advocacy workers to every child in the country

The club has taken a vulnerable young man to their hearts it's not Peter Lawell we are talking about or Ronny he has had his chance. Sorry for my misunderstanding is Jay an employee? .

As I said before some of the players have picked up where Samaras left off right or wrong I think they are doing the correct thing would this situation be repeated by those concerned again.

I doubt it. The Wee man will have enough problems growing up and understanding loss without the Kingmakers here having a go.

{Ed007's Note - This is a page for CFC fans to talk about the Club and anything to do with it. They can also talk about anything they want really and also ask for others help and advice - they sometimes even talk about betting too. But if we ever do need anyone to advise us on what we should post or not I'll keep you in mind.}

14 May 2016 17:44:21
Wee Jay has been officially appointed an Ambassador for Celtic . I don't know if this is for a fix term of years or for life . In either case it would be a terrible deed for this role to be taken permanently from young Jay and given to someone else . Celtic can honour other children and young adults in what ever way they feel is appropriate but not at Jay's expense .

14 May 2016 17:54:47
As usual 100 percent , your just saying what others don't want to in fear of being labelled sad,uncharitable etc etc

14 May 2016 18:02:50
I started my post this morning advocating freedom of speech, if you put your editors hat back on and have a look.

I'm sure Stefs conscience is now clear he has got all this baggage of his chest

As old Bhoy has just posted he has every right to champion a new personality for the club but not at the expense of Wee Jay or any other vulnerable supporter. But thanks for your confidence in my opinion Ed. 🍩.

{Ed007's Note - But both your posts addressed site content so I replied to both.}

14 May 2016 18:46:14
To John67 & Ed, I'm sure the club aren't doing the stuff they do for Jay purely to get positive attention. Everybody knows Celtic do a lot of charitable stuff behind the scenes that doesn't get huge exposure. But it's fairly obvious that they've done some things with Jay in a clever way which makes him feel good but also makes the club look good to the general public.

{Ed007's Note - At least you're not as ignorant as some and can engage in an adult discussion. To say that this isn't a PR stunt/exercise is really pretty naive in this day and age. As you say, some things are done in a clever way.

Oxford English dictionary:-

public relations - noun

the professional maintenance of a favourable public image by a company or other organization or a famous person.

This is the Chartered Institute of Public Relations describing what PR is:-

Public Relations is about reputation - the result of what you do, what you say and what others say about you.

Public Relations is the discipline which looks after reputation, with the aim of earning understanding and support and influencing opinion and behaviour. It is the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its publics.

I just hope that Jay is OK long term when the bubble bursts. I wouldn't like to be the one that tries to explain why he can't go out on the park etc any more, or do people think that this is going to go on for ever? I'd bet you Jay does.}

14 May 2016 20:31:58
Kevbhoy/ ed007

I don't want to be as cynical as you. John Hartson does the Huddle on top of Ben Nevis is John doing a PR exercise for himself or Testicular Cancer. The GB do there food bank and charity nights are they doing a PR exercise. Kano Foundation the list goes on.

Every good turn that gets done will create a positive image for someone.

Would like to think Celtic do these things as it's the right thing to do. What our club was built on. IMO I would argue they don't do enough of this.

{Ed007's Note - I think that's called charity work, there's money raised that goes to a charity when John Hartson done a Huddle on Ben Nevis, food collected goes to another charity and KANO is actually - a CHARITY! And guess what, they ALL want the PUBLICITY because they need it and would happily take part in any publicity they can get. Isn't the Huddle to Ben Nevis sponsored? So yes, it is a PUBLICITY STUNT for the charity - is that not obvious? You give us money and we'll be daft enough to climb Ben Nevis and don't forget to get plenty of pics done to maximise the PUBLICITY and remember the signs so nobody is in any doubt what charity it is in the PUBLICITY pictures we'll set up and take.
Would the cancer charity get the same money if the supporters didn't climb Ben Nevis, would the foodbank have the same amount of food if the GB didn't collect for the foodbanks? What about the kids KANO brings through, kids that might otherwise never see inside CP, who'd do that if they didn't?
You're comparing a guy nearly dying of cancer, a group of people good enough and decent enough to collect for the poor and needy and another group of people good enough and decent enough to bring a group of underprivileged kids - DIFFERENT kids - to Celtic Park to an 10/11 year old kid winning a Goal of the Month competition and being allowed out on the park after matches?
I thought you bringing Oscar Knox into it was tasteless this just takes the biscuit!
And btw, at no point have I said there is anything wrong with what goes on with Jay so I don't know what you're thinking I'm saying. The GOTM was absolute cringe material, anyone on here will tell you I have a low cringe threshold, and you're the only one who can't see that this is a PR exercise. The only other thing I would add is, although I'm not a parent I wouldn't allow my son to get involved in anything like that if I was. The whole thing with having kids in the continual spotlight has never sit right with me, at least in adverts or movies etc they get paid but there is always emotional problems as they grow up. Especially when the 'fame' stops.
One more thing,

'Would like to think Celtic do these things as it's the right thing to do. What our club was built on. IMO I would argue they don't do enough of this.'

Celtic are only involved with John Hartson's stuff. The GB food collections have nothing to do with Celtic, they wouldn't even advertise one of them a while back. KANO need to buy tickets for the kids and adult supervisors, need to buy the programme, scarves etc the kids get in their goody bag so really what you have said, and obviously believe, isn't factually true, sorry.
I think perhaps you've got a bit mixed up with what PR is, not to mention what it does and how it works.}

14 May 2016 20:48:46
Ed007 please don't take this bad, but you sound like McCann taking out the rule book at half time to prove Gordon should have been sent off 😄😀😄😀.

{Ed007's Note - The difference is I know what I'm talking about. 8=) (finger)

14 May 2016 22:02:47
Glad you got that off your chest. Thought the subject was tasteless when I read it this morning but most people think Stef has a valid point.

At no point did I mean to offend anyone and apologize if my views have done this. Won't be commenting on this again. Love wee Jay and hope he's a Celtic Ambassador for a long time.

{Ed007's Note - I wasn't talking about that though, I initially asked you to explain why it wasn't a PR stunt/excercise. That's all I asked you and because you didn't know you had to ask me first. See you've not really grasped it all.}

14 May 2016 23:12:28
You are a very patronizing man. I fully understand. No I don't think it's a PR stunt like to believe its done for the correct reasons.
You believe it's a PR stunt and that's your opinion.

I.

{Ed007's Note - Where have I patronised you? Just because you don't understand what someone is saying doesn't mean they're patronising you. It's not that I believe it's a PR stunt, I know it is and it's obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense. Your opinion on it is irrelevant the same as mine because it is what it is - PR. Did you read the definitions (meaning)* that I cut and paste into the thread?
So your answer to the question on why it's not a PR stunt is that 'It's no coz I don't think it is' - is that the point we're at after today? In other words you don't have a clue what you're talking about, you've not even got an answer to a simple question and all you have done is try and have fly wee snidey digs at me because you are incapable of answering a very basic question about something YOU said. We've agreed that you don't think it's a PR stunt, nobody's questioning that, what I asked - more than once - was why and you've still not answered that question and you and I both know that you can't. So I'll ask you another one and you MUST know this one, what are these 'right reasons' you mention?
Do you have any other nuggets of wisdom you'd care to share with us? Did Gerald Ratner just not know his jewellery?*
Would you like to bad mouth any more good causes or charities to help not prove your point? ***

*That's patronising!

**So is that!

***Guess what? I bet you cant.....}

15 May 2016 02:33:27
Ha*ha**ha***ha. Just answer his question*questions?

15 May 2016 08:58:15
Look I will break it down into simple steps. Don't know why I'm doing this as you are one obnoxious person. Think the power of running a forum has over took your personality

1 Read stefs point in the morning thought it was tasteless.
2 Disagreed with comment.
3 Someone said it was turning into a pr stunt like the Tia Tim's
4 Disagreed with that comment
5 You asked why it wasn't a PR stunt
6 Answered I was not as cynical as you. Asked you the question why it's a PR STUNT
7 You highlighted the GOTM competition as a example to gaining PR
8 I pointed out (badly granted) any good deed will create a PR spin for someone but I didn't not think Celtic done it for that reason but the right reason
9 You got personnel and told me what PR means to prove you are correct.
10 Once again I said I didn't believe Celtic done it for PR reasons (which is just my opinion)
11 You then went on a rant about Gerald Ratner and asked me what the right reasons are.
12 Just my opinion but I like to think Celtic help all there good causes as it's the ethos of the club to help people in need. THE RIGHT REASON.

So quick summary. There is a PR situation in every good deed. I want to believe Celtic do it to help people. If this makes me a clueless individual well that's fine. Will wait on your witty answer belittling me.

{Ed007's Note - Aw diidums, now I'm bellitling you, you do like to try and play the victim don't you?
That's not an answer, that's just a summary of the thread and still has no explanation to why it isn't PR. Look it's obvious you don't know what you're talking about, you haven't made one salient point and can't answer the simplest of questions. Now you can post back another meaningless post or tell people I remind you of the guy who bullied you at school, or how I've hurt your feelings to make you look like some sort of victim in all this, your inferiority complex is shining through.
If you won't - or can't - answer there's no point in carrying on this thread. What you think is obviously right despite everything pointing to the contrary.
My final word on the matter is that it's time the CFC PR department left the kid alone to grow up as normal as possible.
P.S. if you want to contact Jay or his family you need to go through the Club's PR Department. How cynical of them!}
