PL saying he doesn't make the transfers and that the manager has final say. Then why was Allan bought as RD said last week he didn't play him because he didn't suit his style of play?

Agree2 Disagree0

Haven't you learned by now that Ronnie doesn't have talk a lot of rubbish sometimes, as seen by todays comments about leicester.

13 May 2016 11:20:59
I've always thought he was very open and honest tbh. What was said today?

13 May 2016 11:47:51
Not saying he isn't open and honest but its just the way he says somethings like, Celtic couldn't play the zleicester way, because at Celtic, you have to attack and entertain, its not only about winning at Celtic, are words to that effect, I haven't seen mucch of Leicester, but the bit I have seen they were attacking and entertaining.

13 May 2016 11:56:51
To be honest I just can't wait for Sunday so I don't have to listen to his drivel anymore! Listen to Lawell is more this enough for me! It's like listening to lawells mouth piece honestly! Sooner the new mans in the better, and I just pray to god he's not another puppet for Lawell and the rest.

13 May 2016 11:58:23
I honestly don't see the problem with what he said. He's right. If you look back to Lennon or Strachans time most fans including myself wanted better football played. RD was brought into change that and it didn't happen for whatever reasons. The problems not what he's said, it's the fickle fans and that change their minds about what they want from the club on a weekly basis. But that's just my opinion.

13 May 2016 12:21:00
I just want entertaining attacking football, something that was a bit lacking this year most of the time.

13 May 2016 12:56:47
It's something that's been lacking for a while now aindoh not just this year. You could go back to strachans time.

13 May 2016 12:57:09
All smoke and mirrors and dancing around the bush cmc mate. So PL doesn't sign cheques and agree wages etc? Fair enough he isn't a DoF like he says, but that title would best describe JP. Who is pap. PL says the manager has the final say. There is a HUGE difference between the final say, and the say. And if the manager does have the final say Mr. Lie-well, who signed Gordon? Hoopy the Hound?

13 May 2016 13:16:10
Exactly Jim, anytime I hear PL say the manager has the final say, I'm reminded of the Henry Ford quote, which I'll paraphrase here:

You can have any colour you want, as long as it's black.

Aindoh, are you saying you'd be happy to lose as long as we were playing entertaining attacking football? Genuine question.

CMC, I totally agree. He had every right to say it. Leicester weren't an attacking team at all. They were actually quite defensive - they just broke quickly, back to front in a direct style not unlike the Manchester United of the late 90s. It was exciting, but that was as much about the fairytale as it was anything else. Anyone who thinks Leicester are/ were an attacking team have clearly been watching MOTD highlights.

13 May 2016 13:43:55
I would not be happy losing, I didn't mean neglecting the defence in favour of attack, but too many times this season entertaining football was lacking, I think the main reason for this was Ronnies rotation of the team and not letting the team gel together, and playing one up front, I would have played two up front, i. e two in the middle.

13 May 2016 13:44:04
That fits well PP. On the same page again.

There's just such a lack of transparency. Even when quizzed his answers were vague. I realise it's not normal but everytime we sign a player I would just live a quick line at the press conference. Whether it's "the manager has had an eye on this player for a while and feels he would suit the system" or "this is somebody JP has signed on Tosh McKinlay's recommendation" or whatever, it doesn't matter. If somebody has the balls to sign a player they should have the balls to state it imo.

Jim, there's a bit of a wedge between the fans and pl just now for various reasons. I think the man has done a fantastic job re finances, brand awareness and commercial deals. A few years ago we were praising him. I admired him for bringing in RD and wanting the changes that I wanted for a while. The problem is that it failed and as a chief executive on 1m per year he has to take the hit. I don't know if this will make sense as I'm typing on my phone haha.

Tpp. Leicester are a superb counter attacking team but can you imagine if Celtic tried to play that way? Fair enough in Europe but no way in the spfl.

13 May 2016 15:36:59
CMC- totally agree on both points. They recent negativity towards PL (whilst deserved) seems to have blinded some fans to how good a job he's done.

Spot on re LC. That's why I think RD was within his rights to say what he did.

13 May 2016 15:53:21
Makes sense to me matey. The recruitment process, policy and personnel needs changing. PL is fine at brokering deals.

13 May 2016 16:39:21
Agreed that there needs to be a change Jim. I'm just not sure if the recruitment policy is easy to change. I wouldn't say there's much difference between a 300k player and a 3m player anymore. Maybe in potential but not not in older ready made players. But there's a massive difference between a 2m player and a 20m player. Finances dictate what we do so our scouting system has to be better than all the rest. Again park has done wonders for us in the past but has also failed miserably in his job recently.
