Read up on what Celtic first team squad players earn.

Brown £25000
Lustig £24000
Boerigtter £24000
Izaguirre £21000
Griffiths £18000
Commons £18000
Ambrose £17000
Blackett £15000
Kazim Richards £15000
Forrest £14000
Boyata £14000
Mulgrew £14000
Johansen £12500
Bitton £12000
Sviatchenko £12000
Allan £9000
Janko £8000
Simunovic £8000
Gordon £8000
Cole £8000
Armstrong £8000
Mackay Steven £8000
Bailly £8000
Mcgregor £7500
Roberts £5000
Christie £4000
Tierney £3000
Rogic £3000
Fasan £2500

Think Griffiths Rogic and Tierney all deserve a decent pay rise. God knows what Stokes and Scepovic are on but surely with all the deadwood gone we will save £150000 a week on wages. With decent backing for the new manager £8m-£10m (Surely realistic with new sponsors/ sevco revenue) we could have a really good team next season.

I'd always thought Commons was top earner with Brown after his new deal? Anyway, if we do manage to ship on plebty there then aye, you're right. 3-4 players on more than 25k.

03 May 2016 07:10:37
If that lists correct then its actually frightening that Browns on 25 grand! No wonder he's so eager to stay at Celtic for the rest of his career!

03 May 2016 09:45:27
I'm not going to slag off Brown too much after one bad season following being our best player over a nearly a decade, but to put it into perspective, that's more than the average wage in La Liga.

03 May 2016 10:28:50
Browns been our best player for over a decade? Hmmm!
I honestly don't believe that's the wages of izzy and ambrose.

03 May 2016 10:48:11
Jimtim i am a fan of brown but no way would i say he has been our best player for over a decade.
Not when we have had guys like nakamura Jan vennegor Barry Robson Paul hartley wee Scott McDonald and leigh Griffiths
Brown has been a very important but otherwise not the best.

03 May 2016 11:49:23
Over nearly a decade. 9 years if we're being fussy. And I meant over the course of it, in terms of constistency etc, not that he has been our best player in that time. Probably struggling to phrase it. Anyway, Paul Hartley and Barry Robson don't even come close given they made basically 1/ 5th of his appearances.

03 May 2016 12:21:12
This was an article posted by Daily Mail I think. I imagine Stokes must be on about 18k and Scepovic at least 15k seeing as he didn't want to sign in the first place. Ciftci maybe 10k so if Stokes, Ciftci, Cole, Scepovic and possibly even CKR was punted that would be about 66k a week wages saved and replaced with 2 decent strikers on top end wages will keep PL happy. All the recent signings wages just shows you how much Celtic have downsized compared to the players that's been there longer.

03 May 2016 12:40:57
Both hartley and Robson were better player jimtim. Does matter how long the were here.

03 May 2016 12:46:31
Everyone keeps talking about getting rid punting or binning players but there is 2 problems with that.
1 the player has to agree to leave
2 another club has to want them.

03 May 2016 14:02:29
More than debatable that kev even saying that. Ok, if I phrase it: over the past decade the player who has contributed the most is Scott Brown. I'm not having any other answer to that sorry. The best footballer we've had over the past decade however, I'd be split between Naka and Robbie Keane.

03 May 2016 14:14:40
any player who refuses to leave simply so they can pick up a pay check must have his contract terminated immediately, Finding someone who wants them is the biggest problem. Although most of the players mentioned would find a club in Europe willing to have them if free, clubs willing to spend on these players will be few and far between.

03 May 2016 16:10:11
Depends what you mean by con tributes jimtim.
Game time ye but naka scored and created goal the whole time he was there. Championship winning goals
Champions league goals and old firm goals.
Same with skippy and Jan the man and Barry Robson.

03 May 2016 16:19:01
Dundee Bhoy the whole point of getting rid of these players is to free up wages for other players.
Pay them off doesn't free the wage up

03 May 2016 16:36:39
I just think that over the past decade he's contributed the most lol. Probably due to the fact he's by far the longest serving player admittedly, but you can't take anything away from him for that.

03 May 2016 17:12:26
OMG it astounds me on this site that people are arguing over Scott Brown when just below him BOERIGGTER £24000 a week really come on guys.

Hope your well ed not posted in ages but i'm absolutely taken aback by the figures originally posted

The Happy Turnkey.

{Ed007's Note - It's nice to hear from you. I'm doing fine thanks.}

03 May 2016 17:13:39
Jim Tim Scott Browns been our best player! Haha your joking aren't you! Ledley wanyama van dijk hooper forrster naka are just a few that brown couldn't lace there boots! In my opinion he's been lucky to have been playing for a club like ours never mind being the captain!

03 May 2016 17:31:48
thats the problem Celtic should have plenty of money banked and if we don't some serious questions need to be asked. The point is or should be we will not tolerate free loaders if your at Celtic your here to work and give your all if not you will be sold and if you refuse to move or no one wants you we will terminate your contract, then see if these average players give the same effort as this season. Or are you happy to pay derk 9k per minute of playing time? Or even have players like ambrose or Forrest in the squad picking up your yearly salary in a week yet not getting a game or giving there all?

03 May 2016 17:36:00
Do you really see any of the players in our squad getting offered a better deal somewhere else kev? (If you do I happen to have some left handed hammers for sale £10 each) and there not exactly going to move for less money even if the club accept an offer why would/ should they? . The only way we will get rid of most off our surplus players is to loan them out and eventually they will leave for free.

03 May 2016 19:05:27
Lol, these salary figures were from the daily t*ts and arse who based them on Football manager? . Ooffttt! Pmsl.

03 May 2016 20:11:42
Hello beav. Over the course of 10 years, absolutely I am saying that. You name me one player who comes close to 9 years decent service. I don't need to go any more into it really. If you've read what I've said, and even tried to reiterate, it's got to make sense. It's not even open to debate really. What am I dealing with here?

03 May 2016 20:59:38
If those figures are correct which I've got my doubts then we must rank as the most highly paid under achieving team in Europe. Those figures work out at roughly 1.3 million a month in players wages alone What do we get for winning Spl 2 million ? Huge outlay for such a small prize

03 May 2016 22:05:44
Jim Tim go back to your earlier post pal, u said brown has been our best player for nearly a decade! Nothing about 9 years decent service! U said best player, which not in a million years is he even close to! He's not even the best midfielder of the past 9 years never mind anything else!

03 May 2016 22:18:43
How many times does Jim need to clarify his point before you get it?

03 May 2016 22:58:42
I was interested in the table until I saw it was published in the Daily Mail and suddenly for some reason I started to doubt it .

03 May 2016 23:04:01
Jim Jim I think the thing about Brown is his consistency, season after season he would always be a top three or at worse a top four player every season.

04 May 2016 00:39:48
I know first hand Ambrose is on £10000 a week. Bound to be a few more errors in this thread.

04 May 2016 11:44:18
That's not what I said Beav. I'm outtie.

04 May 2016 12:43:06
That's not what u said! Eh aye Ye did! U said brown has been our best player for nearly a decade! Go back and look. that's not what i said! Haha!

04 May 2016 12:29:57
I'd say most are accurate I did get a shock at Ambroses wage as well as Boerigtters and 15k for a loan player that's barely kicked a ball. Ed have we managed to punt Derk yet?

{Ed007's Note - He was paid off and returned to Holland last month.}
