Who would be your first pick midfield duo (at they're best) :
Biton and Johanson
Or
Brown and kayal
Or
Robson and Hartley
Or
Lambert and burley

I would choose them in reverse order. I went to school with Robson and although he was a blue nose then, himself and Hartley were the drive behind that season.

Brown and Kayal for me.

07 Mar 2016 20:06:46
I know it is not on your list but I would take:

Ledley/ Brown and Wanyama.

07 Mar 2016 20:33:12
Mcstay / collins.

07 Mar 2016 20:57:17
Lambert and Lennon.

07 Mar 2016 21:15:36
Brown biton johansen kayal wanyama would never get in any midfield before lambert

07 Mar 2016 21:19:25
3 man midfield for me - McStay and Murdoch just in front of Wanyama!

07 Mar 2016 21:22:35
If it had to be a pair that played together I'd go McStay and Collins also!

{Ed007's Note - Collins played out on the left, McStay's MF enforcer was Peter Grant.}

07 Mar 2016 22:13:25
How could I forget the pointer Ed. I was meaning in the same team. McStay is my fav player of all time! Lambert was good but the Maestro was a level up! They had similar styles but McStay was a genius from 16, Lambert made the most of his career and fair play to him he kept improving, playing at Dortmund really gave him discipline. Paul McStay knocked back going to a couple of top Serie A teams when it was the best league in the world, if he had moved he really could have been world class. Staying with us held him back, he was selfless though! Collins was more ruthless, but he went to a great Monaco team under Tigana and held his own!

{Ed007's Note - I thought it was CM partnerships, sorry. Both cracking players and McStay is a legend, my favourite ever CFC player, even over Larsson. }

07 Mar 2016 22:23:25
Have to disagree as I would say Wanyama is a much better player than Lambert was. Don't get me wrong I liked Lambert and did rate him.

From all my time watching Celtic the two best centre midfielders I have seen are McStay and Wanyama.

07 Mar 2016 23:22:05
Would have loved Lubo a few years sooner.

08 Mar 2016 01:26:18
Not CM but Lubo and Naka behind Griffiths that would be some creativity.

{Ed007's Note - Imagine Lubo, Naka and Larsson as the 3 behind your striker! Their movement, technique and skill would pull any defence into a dizzy tizz.}

08 Mar 2016 10:17:04
Can't believe some of the players people rate over lambert
The guy won the champions league before signing for us marking zidane out the game.

08 Mar 2016 10:42:35
Would'nt have Biton and Johannsen any where near talk of best midfield pairings.

08 Mar 2016 10:45:11
Imagine nakamura Lubo and mcstay behind larsson. Ooft

08 Mar 2016 11:46:17
mcstay lambert

di cannio lubo Nakamura

. larrson.

08 Mar 2016 11:58:36
Lambert was a cracking player Kev, if you're playing 2 you have to have a balance. I agree he was better than those other midfielders you listed, but I would just take Wanyama because he is more powerful. For me the best midfielders I've seen in a Celtic jersey that would compliment each other would be Wanyama and McStay. Murdoch is by far the best midfielder that's ever wore the jersey though!

08 Mar 2016 14:37:30
Aye Ed they three McStay and Victor as your central two Bobo alongside Big Stubbsy, Tam Boyd on the left and Agathe on the right you wouldn't even need a goalie! :-D.

{Ed007's Note - I never rated Agathe, he really was a poor player and the weak link in MON's team. All he could do was run fast, his decision making and final ball were worse than Forrest.}

08 Mar 2016 15:08:22
Agathe was never the same after that injury @ Tynecastle but lighting fast was his attribute now am picturing it am seeing him on the left rather than the right (y) cannot think of an outstanding RB Hinkel should have been much better IMO.

{Ed007's Note - I remember Hinkel playing a blinder against Dynamo Moscow and setting up both goals in our 2-0 win. I had high hopes for Mark Wilson but like Hinkel injuries scuppered his chance with us.}

08 Mar 2016 17:08:57
On his day, Mark Wilson was a brilliant (in relative terms) RB. The problem was, as you say, injuries scuppered him. I really liked him and if nothing else, he scored the goal that won THAT game.

08 Mar 2016 17:33:58
Surely mjallby before bobo? *.

08 Mar 2016 18:13:18
Can't believe how much some posters live in the past . Imagine if we fielded Lambert and Burley . They would know what to do, their mind would be first class but they wouldn't have the legs or body to do what the mind wants . By far the best partnership from the players listed is Brown with either Biton or Johanson . I would go with Brown and Biton and play Johanson in the middle of three in front of them . Johanson has good mobility and comes back to help the defensive midfield pair when under pressure . We are now entering the serious part of the domestic game and hence we should keep idiocy out of posting.

08 Mar 2016 22:01:06
The way brown and Johanson are playing , I would take a chance with burley and lambert . P. s. Again oldbhoy YOU don't decide what people post, don't like it move on simple .

08 Mar 2016 22:26:54
Lambert was pure class and players like wanyama biton brown and players like them were no where near the class of Lambert and Mcstay.

09 Mar 2016 10:02:23
Brilliant vid. Lambert was always my favourite.
