Who would have thought in the early 90's that in a decades time we would be in a European final. The change we made when appointing MO is what we need again if we are going to see a successful Celtic. Get RD out and replace him with and older head, someone with experience and give him a decent budget. Nothing else will do!

Right its our old favourite Owen Coyle that fits the bill. I understand he has been on P L list over the last couple of vacancies and no doubt if R D leaves we will have a very respectful period of time for P L to climb trees all over Scotland and Europe in search of the right one . After such a period the anointed one Owen Coyle will become our man.

I believe someone like Paul lambert would be better, I believe giving the right amount of backing and bringing Celtic guys as his back room staff as Lennon did would be the right move for Celtic I think we need a real Celtic man to motivate the players, someone who fought and laid everything down for the team. With that said I also think Larsson cannot be ignored if your looking at someone to excite the fans and get the players going, however like Ronny does not have a lot of experience. My ideal 2 would be lambert as manager with Larsson as his assistant (possibly replacement at some point) and a real good scouting team. Just my opinion would love to know what you guys think.

{Ed007's Note - Paul Lambert will never be a CFC manager.}

I seem to remember Lambert distancing himself from the post some time ago as he didn't want the additional baggage that goes with the job.
I have a feeling that if [or when] RD is replaced, Collins is already in place to assume total responsibility - and that worries me.
MON was a 'right place - right time' appointment that only comes along once in a blue moon. Under the current regime and financial restraints I fear we will hop from one cheap option 'Yes-Man' to the next until there is major changes and investment in Celtic.

12 Feb 2016 08:39:02
Hey Ed, what makes you think that. And I agree Jim I don't think it would happen i just think it would be our ideal appointment. I don't recall him distancing himself from it tho. Maybe lambert isn't the right one but I do think a Celtic man is needed. I too am seriously worried about JC taking over would rather have ally McCoist 😝.

{Ed007's Note - He said so himself.}

Why would it need to be a celtic man taking over?

12 Feb 2016 13:36:36
Whats that all about a celtic man is needed? We have our celtic man there already john collins n he's a fud.

12 Feb 2016 14:55:28
I don't think that if Ronny was being replaced that it would have to be with an ex Celtic player.
I would like to see an experienced manager in charge, someone who is used to the pressures of a big club, and is able to manage the egos of players who play for big clubs.
I don't doubt Ronny's commitment to Celtic, I'm sure he puts the same effort into his work as any ex player would. I think where he falls short is in his handling of players, he doesn't seem to be able to get the best out of the team, and I'm not sure that the players respect him enough.
That's why in my opinion, we need a strong willed character in charge, who the players will listen to and know who's boss.

12 Feb 2016 15:00:29
It doesn't but in my opinion that is what is needed someone to show the players what it takes to play for Celtic, Ronny says the players are hungry but it doesn't look like it to me. As for john Collins he may be a Celtic man but as you said he's a fud, I didn't say any Celtic man would do but the right one imo could take the club back to where it belongs regardless of budgets. Ed I didn't know he said that do you know why he doesn't want to.

{Ed007's Note - He doesn't want the hassle and the grief that goes with the job brought on to himself or his family.}

We revert back to 'Celtic Men' time and time again, as it is hoped they have a loyalty, passion, understanding and love for the club - like supporters and can empathise with our feelings.
However, very few have actually managed to make a success of it, or live up to ours and their expectations or dreams.
The board have in the past, used the 'Celtic connection' to appease fans and take the pressure off themselves, but circumstances, bad judgement or inability to put theory into practice has cost them.
Jimmy McGrory was manager when I was a boy, but I don't remember enough about him or the team I saw in the early 60's; however Big Jock's achievements are well documented and the benchmark for my generation, as to what a Celtic Man can do, but that could never happen again - could it?

12 Feb 2016 15:55:16
I am 33 first manager I can remember is Billy mcneill but not much.
The best managers I have seen at celtic all had no prior connection to the club.
Oneill Strachan jansen.
But macari Mowbray dagleish Grant and Collins all do
I don't care if next manager has no connection to our club yet
I care that he is experienced enough
I care that he can walk in and demand instant respect from the players and fans.
No more novice managers

I'd have binned Ronnie after the Ross County/ Aberdeen game and given it to Neil warnock until the end of the season.

But then, maybe that's why I don't work in football.

12 Feb 2016 16:31:14
I didn't know about lambert not wanting the job when I made the original post, however I do agree that an experienced manager is needed and lambert certainly would fit that bill. Does anyone really believe that we would/ can get the manager we need? .

12 Feb 2016 16:42:49
How much more experienced is Lambert than RD?

12 Feb 2016 17:01:49
Has to be a Celtic man wtf might as well give it John clark. Anyway we have a manager who I firmly believe will still be with us next season hopefully after winning the double. I really don't get what everyone thinks we will achieve changing manager until things change at the top things will never be any different no matter who's in charge.

12 Feb 2016 17:36:36
Ok Welshboy let's just stick with Ronnie no matter what. By the way you will soon change your mind if Rangers come up and beat us a couple of times. Right now there is no pressure on him apart from what he brings on himself. No one is going to win the league apart from Celtic. That will change and we should be so far ahead that it should not be a concern. We are not going to run away with the SPL but we will win it but not in style. We need to stop accepting poor performances and saying it's ok because Ronnie will get it right. No he won't.

12 Feb 2016 17:57:35
Pretty sure you could give the manager's job to anyone and they'd become 'celtic men' pretty quick. Like, before the interview.

12 Feb 2016 19:50:52
Our best two managers of recent times were MON and strachan. Both premiership managers with teams who were in relegation battles, had the odd shock result and got to one or two cup finals. Are there any just now that fit this? Lambert got to the final last year and survived relegation? Although can't remember if he got sacked before the end of the season or not? Don't think there are any others, would have said steve bruce but he got relegated last year. Mark Hughes? Eddie Howe?

Would we attract any premiership managers or is that now wishful thinking?

14 Feb 2016 19:17:31
Craigie bhoy I note that your namesake's decision of given a red card to Efe would in your mind decide R D 's future at Celtic . I would prefer not to be seen to give them that power, bad predecence.
