Not really Celtic related but after watching Match of the Day how impressive is Leicester's pitch?

Watching our last 2 games, Hampden and Pittodrie were both in shocking condition.

I thought the same thing Niall. They're a joy to watch, and the pitch is incredible!

To my eyes it just looks like the groundsman wants to get attention on him, all those stupid patterns on pitch spoil my viewing.

We need to start playing more youth players as our scouting system is shocking and player recruitment over the last couple of years has been poor.

It must be great to know you'll be on a top notch surface week-in, week-out. I feel sorry for our players at times because we are a team who tries to play the ball on the deck but some of the pitches in Scotland are just atrocious. The money these teams make means that they can take things like decent pitches for granted. I agree with you Delphic, they've been a breath of fresh air and I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat City tomorrow. They remind me of Liverpool 2 seasons ago when they were playing with such confidence that they became miles better than the sum of their parts.

I've never understood why half the pitches are the way they are, surely it doesn't cost that much in the grand scheme of things to keep a good park?

I think to be fair to the clubs in Scotland, the weather hasn't been as severe in the English midlands as it has been in Scotland.
All the storms and flooding that there has been would test the abilities of the very top groundsmen,

Genuine question. can't they just cover the pitch when not in use?

05 Feb 2016 12:45:32
I've thought the same thing also - they should also be covering the pitches at Lennoxtown! We need another couple of full size indoor pitches also, - supposedly the training all through the winter is affected, and when they do train they have tracky's, tights, hats, extra tops, gloves on, its ridiculous! You also have the wind there because it is so open! We can't pass the bloody ball as it is without giving the players excuses to go home early! These are my biggest problems with Lawwell, not signing top players, simply not doing the basics! It's pure schoolboy stuff!

The pitches in Scotland have been a disgrace for years, nothing to do with the recent weather. Fir Park is the worst and is more like a sand pit than a football pitch. Hampden was terrible last year and not improved this year.

I'm not RDs biggest fan or looking for excuses but the state of the pitches we are forced to play on doesn't help us.

No wonder English fans say the SPL is a pub league when they put a game on and pitches are as bad as they are. Even Hampden that's meant to be our national stadium looks terrible I don't understand that as our pitch always looks good?

I read somewhere were Aberdeen had really poured water on the pitch pre-match, not the normal sprinkle but a very heavy watering .
We should have been good enough to win on any surface but obviously the Don's knew what they were at .
Hampden Park is a joke particularly at the end of January start of February time of year and it speaks volumes about the poor state of our national game when we look at our National Stadium.
