It's like reading politicians blogs on here at times. Sure everyone's entitled to their opinions but picking and choosing what facts you want to use to suit your argument is plain stupidity. Fact RD has done more in his first season in Europe than Lennon did. Fact both managers were put into the next round because of opposition playing suspended or unregistered players. Fact Strachan lost to Bratislava 5-0 his first season and went on to draw 4-4 in the first league game that season. Fact he also lost to Clyde in January of his first season in the cup. Fact both managers had a better calibre of player and transfer budget to play with.

In my eyes the only people that need to leave our club is the duds, the board, PL, and JP. I would also like to see RD pick his own staff.

Yes, but he did it with a defence. His choices to replace that have been idiotic and disastrous.

The inability to see fielding Ambrose would finish his career is a blindspot we cannot afford.
It's about NOW.

The defence is appalling and his inability to sort it will cist us qualification and him his job.

I have said it before. If you are a defender at CP and you can't get a game before the bombscare a we play, then you really need to consider your career choice.

I get the fact that the defence is in a mess but who is he to choose from. It's clear the manager doesn't have much of a say in transfers in.

All the ambrose bashers correct me if I am wrong but when Fraser foster set the clean sheet record was big ambrose not a mainstay in the heart of the defence? When u hear top managers they always say we defend as a team. The lack of movement ahead of the defenders doesn't help the passing out from the back game we want to play I think you could see the defence being more deliberate with their passing yesterday. And if mourinho cannae get it right why should RD always get it right? We just don't have the pulling power anymore to get quality in but you can see buying domestic players isn't the way to go as the Dundee United trio just aren't the class we should be going for.

I like Ronny, and like you say Toprig the board are completely useless. It's not that we should be spending money we don't have, it's that the money we do have is getting spent wrongly. When you ONLY buy projects it makes the squad too big, with no experience and no quality in the short term, ie to qualify for the Champions League, it also leaves you with a huge wage bill regardless! Over the last few years we've even had players out on loan who are getting their wage paid by us. I'd much rather a squad made up of 16-18 quality players earning 20k per week, and roughly 8 kids from the youth set up, than have a squad of 30 with half made up with projects who were all earning 7k per week. I had to laugh though when you slate people for picking bits to back up their argument by mentioning Strachan and Bratislava/Clyde, - you've went and picked his 2 worst results in his 5 years at the club, if he had been losing consistently over a period to teams like that we'd all have been at the front door wanting him out! I was never a huge Lennon fan, the football was far too typical outdated British style, and I was delighted by Ronnys ideas, but in his year and a half in Europe we haven't played 1 brilliant team, - the current Ajax team are very average, it's not a great Fenerbahce team, and Inter went straight out after beating us, all the other teams we should be beating/at least competing with, we are getting humbled though. I don't really care about the 2 domestic cups, especially the Skol Cup or whatever it's called, it's always great to win the Scottish Cup (our cup) but if we never won it again and only won the league and at least done ok-well in Europe I'd be the happiest Celtic fan alive, as it is we have become a laughing stock, 90% of teams/teams fans are delighted to draw us now!

Yesterday, in a Match were Celtic dominated throughout but could've made it a complete whitewash, for me, the seldom picked Ambrose played a really good game. He controlled whatever came in his direction and, defended and passed well . In my opinion he was Man of the Match .

The Sno-Man.

I don't understand why there has to be a comparison between Ronny Deila's first season in Europe and Neil Lennon's. It's not a case of if we were to get rid of Ronny it means we would go back to Lennon.
Ronny's record in Europe up till now is pretty abysmal, I know people will say he got us to the last sixteen of the Europa League, but that only came as a result of twice being knocked out of the Champions League, it's hardly anything to crow about. This season up till now is even worse, it just seems like one humiliation after another. Whatever his results are compared to Neil Lennon, it doesn't make these humiliations any easier to take.
I would like the posters who are all for Ronny, to explain why they are so confident in him. I confess I had never heard of him before he was appointed, so I can only judge him on what he is doing at Celtic.
If he is the man for Celtic, I would just like to know what he is going to bring to the club that he hasn't brought already, just saying he's a good manger because he isn't Neil Lennon is hardly the most inspiring recommendation.

Ambrose could be a decent player, he's simply far too erratic. He's got a mistake in him every game, he's also not commanding or aggressive enough for a centre half. He'll be delighted we signed Boyata right enough because he's got all the same faults x 2! It could have been 3-2 easily yesterday because of a couple crosses into the box. We need a centre half in Jan to play with Simunovic. Boyata and Ambrose must be the 2 nicest central defenders in the history of world football! There must be an old school Italian playing in Serie A we could get! Maybe a 28 year old for £2/3 million. We need a few quality signings around that age, with proper experience - even if you can't resell them, if they finish their career with us we'll have got a good 6 years out them, that's good value in my book. Ajax are the same - every one of their players is about 20. Now we all know that Hansen got it spectacularly wrong when he said you can't win anything with kids, but he was right to a point because that Utd team had guys like Bruce, Pallister, Robson and Keane in it!

Ambrose may well have been less calamitous but thus us like saying Syria used to be a good place to holiday. Not now.

Even when he was less calamitous doesn't mean he didn't supplement his income by selling jersey's.

He has just progressed to bulk sales now. Guaranteed with every big game.

I'm absolutely pig sick of all these Ambrose bashers on here, he's a far better and more reliable CB than Boyata, Blackett and Mulgrew without question. Don't give me Mulgrew POTY nonsense Lenny was his biggest fan and even he didn't rate Mulgrew in that position after that season which tells you all you need to know.

Imo when everyone is fit I would have Janko at RB, Lustig and Simunovic at CB and Tierney at LB. Ambrose would fill in to cover Janko/Lustig positions at times and Izzy for Tierney. The trio of Boyata, Mulgrew and Blackett should all be let go and forgotten about forever.

Ambrose has proved himself to be reliable enough, he's a far better CB than he gets slated for and imo I trust him enough over the likes as I have mentioned of Blackett, Mulgrew and Boyata. Boyata's passing btw has got to be the worst I have witnessed from a CB, scarily bad and even more scary that Ronny seems to rate him as a first choice over Ambrose.

09 Nov 2015 13:38:57
a few supporters would agree with that back four as it seems to be the best of a bad bunch, but I would worry about Lustig and Simunovic getting injured too easily and too often. Lustig especially is not the bravest defender I've ever seen.

09 Nov 2015 16:09:06
Top right Ronnie has come out and said he decides on what players come and go. You seem to think otherwise but if Ronnie says its down to him then why should we believe what you say! Ronnie says he chooses so that's argument closed.

09 Nov 2015 17:52:39
Some people seem to just seek an unhappy ending . Deila insisted Virgil wouldn't be sold until our European Qualification was decided .
The club purchased a younger version whose club insisted the same thing that Simunovic wouldn't be sold until then
Everything went well until we actually signed Simunovic who was injured after his first game and even though he looks the part in the small glimpses we have seen, that hasn't helped Deila or the team .
I am confident that Boyata and Simunovic will be a v good centre back partnership
Sometimes luck can play a part.

How do you figure RD did better in Europe in his first year than Lennon! Lennon did not get knocked out of the champions league qualifiers twice in his first season.

{Ed007's Note - So getting to the Round of 32 of the CL is worse than being knocked out of both the CL and EL at the qualifiers and having no European football at all? The first time NL delivered any European football was at his FOURTH attempt - and that was only because of the Sion debacle - without Sion breaking the rules NL wouldn't have delivered European football in his first two seasons, twice losing in CL qualifiers and twice losing in EL qualifiers.}

09 Nov 2015 20:54:01
The difference being that Braga and Utrecht were far superior to Legia, Maribor and Malmo! It doesn't matter how people dress it up our team under RD are not at the level of Lennys team! Where is the fast expansive brand of Football that RD promised because I have yet to see it! When we were knocked out by Maribor last year he asked fans to judge him in one year when he had settled well imo we are worse now! There's no denying year on year our team gets worse and worse and it's painful to see.

{Ed007's Note - I must have misread your initial question, I thought you were meaning his overall record in Europe and not breaking it down to a performance by performance analysis, that explains it because anyone can plainly see that RD has had a far superior start to his European campaigns with CFC than NL did.
I think drawing with Fenerbahce and especially drawing away with Ajax were excellent results and I was disappointed we didn't win both, and I also thought we were unlucky against Inter Milan last year in another tie where individual errors cost us dearly. I'd say those three teams are better than Braga and Utrecht.
It would just get tedious going through every game so I'll just leave it at that.}

09 Nov 2015 21:32:09
Mmm let's break it down then a draw and a defeat to Salzburg, a win and a defeat against Zagreb, a win and a draw against Astra! A draw and a defeat to inter Milan, A draw with Ajax and Fenerbache agreed decent results and two losses to Molde! That's two wins out of twelve in the Europa League with no wins in the last nine of those! Yeah Rd is doing a great job.

{Ed007's Note - So what are we talking about now, qualification, particular games or things managers say that come back to bite them on the bum?}

09 Nov 2015 21:52:07
I guess you could put all those together ED! My point is I don't believe we are making any kind of progress under RD! I absolutely gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and was wishing him to be successful and whilst I appreciate he has had no backing financially we have taken giant strides backwards and are far to easy to play against in Europe both in defence and attack.

{Ed007's Note - Your point was /question was:

'How do you figure RD did better in Europe in his first year than Lennon! Lennon did not get knocked out of the champions league qualifiers twice in his first season.'

And I answered that.}

@Ice Man You are suffering from green tinted specs syndrome.
