Been watching Griffiths first goal over and over, What a fantastic cross from Tierney. Magnificent header also. Tierney has done enough in this short time to merit the left back position, surely has to start on Thursday v Molde.

I'd start him but I reckon Izzy will be back in the team. I think we could do worse than play them both with izzy further up.

I'd certainly start tierney over izzy as he has brought a freshness to the squad and it's good to get a youth player coming through. My only concern is that he needs to get physically stronger as he looks small and light weight which could be exploited by better teams, he may also suffer if he is expected to be as far forward as he has been lately as like izzy There is a lot of space left in behind him which better teams will target.

got to disagree with you on some points Jim, probably one of the best defenders I've seen in my time would be Franco Baresi, built like gable end of a pound note, roughly 5.8 ft tall but hard as nails and no nonsense defender, not saying the wee guys in this kind of company lol, but play the boy give him all the experience he needs, doesn't matter calibre of team in Europe we play, it's got to help him long term.

I'm actually pretty certain Tierney will start on Thursday, think Ronny now prefers him and trusts him more than Izzy. Izzy will still get games domestically in spells against your Ross Countys, Dundees etc. But overall I think Tierney as long as he keeps these performances up is starting to slowly but surely take over the LB position. Izzy will still be a handful back up and will still get games but whether or not he'll settle for that after being first choice for so many years remains to be seen.

I think it will be the exact same team that played Aberdeen at the weekend. Boyata will need to sort himself out though, positionally he still seems to be all over the place at the back and I don't trust him one bit in defence. Too error prone.

I am happy with either starting . I think very highly of Tierney but we don't want to over play him . I expect him to play either on Thursday or Sunday . I like the way both he and Izzy are happy to attack high up the field, and both are very capable of neutralising opposition by defending and attacking high up the field .

Totally stupid comparison using baresi falkirkbhoy. As I said I'm glad he's getting game time but in the modern game I still think he will need to fill out physically to make it long term and he will probably be rotated with izzy this season till he can command the position comfortably or until we sign someone else. Not sure what else you disagree with but IMO any left back who is regularly ahead of the left sided winger will be targeted as a weakness by the opposition for a counter attack as we've all seen happen to izzy many many many times.

sorry Jim you took that the wrong way wasn't having a dig mate, I mearly meant it doesn't matter his about his size, all this play him to much you'll burn him out kind of stuff, is a load of pish, what about the boy Ronnie had in Norway who went to Real Madrid, full international with Norway, I'm no going to risk getting an ear bashing by stating the obvious player s ( messi, Neymar, etc etc ) all young guys tip of ther games, but they all gave something in common they were trusted to play every week any gained experience by playing football against more experienced players, so why not stick with young tierney, you go on about izzy being targeted by other teams, your absolutely correct but it's because he's rotten mate can't defend can't cross a ball need I go on, leave the young boy in the side.

We have conceded more goals ( especially important goals ) from down the right hand side this season .

I agree with playing Tierney, always thought Izzy might be better suited to an attacking midfield role, also think if Boyata keeps making errors it might be worthwile giving Mulgrew a chance beside Simonivic, to see if they could develop a partnership.

03 Nov 2015 02:32:18
aindoh you must be jesting Mulgrew is the worst of the lot lol.

Simunovic, Boyata, Ambrose and Blackett are all better than Mulgrew in the CB role and don't give me his POTY nonsense he won it that year for his goal-scoring from defence not his ability as a defender. Mulgrew ain't getting a new contract and will be offski come end of the season hopefully in January. He's an absolute carthorse.

celticforever, i was thinking about Mulgrews performances at centre back for Scotland, life is all about relationships in all kinds of walks of life, some footballers play better together with different partners than others, i was just saying, maybe Mulgrew and Simonivic (spelling) might gel together better than Boyata and Simonivic.
