Hearing this croation boy is in Glasgow ED,must admit this will shock me if he signs! With the money quoted I thought it was a pipe dream! Really think we need a striker in but mate! U think we'll pull one out the bag before the window ED? Why couldn't they have tried for these players before the Malmo games? Never understand it mate.think young Christie will be a shrewd buy! Great future this boys got! Really impressed me every time I've seen him

{Ed007's Note - Well it's quite obvious that neither Dinamo Zagreb or CFC see Jozo Simunovic as a player capable of playing in the CL, the Zagreb fans are laughing at us for trying to sign him.
Ryan Chrisitie will end up at St Johnstone or Kimarnock in a couple of seasons, or signed back up at ICT playing alongside Scott Allan and James Forrest}

Agree3 Disagree3

I'm quietly confident Scott Allan will be a good player for us Ed. Don't know anything about this Zagreb player, where have you heard that their fans are laughing at us?
DN30 will be hoping he's cr@p though so he can slate John Park every day for the next few months

{Ed007's Note - So you watch a lot of lower league football, I can't say I do myself is no better than watching the juniors down the park, there's some good players there as well but I wouldn't want them signing for CFC. Have you spotted any other players in the lower leagues of Scotland that we should sign to help is get into the latter stages of the EL or the CL next season - or was Scott Allan the only one?
The Zagfreb fans are all over social media torturing CFC fans about how bad Simunovic, we've got to give him a chance but it doesn't bode well his current team's fans are celebration him leaving does it?

HenriksTongue I think John Parks failings speak for themself. I can't understand why he is your hero

31 Aug 2015 15:42:19
It doesn't bode well no. I watched a few Hibs games last season and I have to say he was a stand out. He looks like the kind of creative player we lack at times. And as you haven't watched him play its a wee bit unfair for you to judge him already.

{Ed007's Note - He's playing in the Scottish division, I doubt there's many players in that league that could anywhere any EPL team let alone CFC. I don't watch women's football but I know it's $hite.}

31 Aug 2015 15:48:50
He's no hero of mine. And yes a lot of his recommendations have been awful. I'm just tired of reading his name in every one of your posts! Yawn

31 Aug 2015 15:58:44
A lot of fans slag departing players. Usually a sign of not actually wanting them to leave! I expect the same on here tomorrow when VVD leaves. Hopefully the bhoy will be a good buy for us

{Ed007's Note - Why not go and ask them instead of just guessing? I don't think he's started a game for them this season.}

31 Aug 2015 16:26:54
He started 4 of their 6 qualifiers. I'll reserve judgement until I see him in the Hoops a few times but the fee alone is a step in the right direction and at a level we haven't seen in years

{Ed007's Note - The guy deserves every chance to prove himself and if he's in the team it keeps the Mulgrews and Ambroses out the team. We need a big physical hard tacking CB, the type who'll get tore in no matter what, boots flying etc.
We need someone like that to play alongside a ball-playing CB.
Sometimes in defensive situations you sometimes need brute force hard tackling rather than trying to remember what was on the whiteboard on Thursday morning.}

31 Aug 2015 17:09:42
ED007 I seem to recall an EPL team (forget who) offered £2m for Ambrose in January and Delia turned it down with his failings in europe and the transfer market he has cost us big time along with Park and Lawwell

31 Aug 2015 17:28:40
Ed, See with what you are saying about two contrasting CB's do you think Biton could drop back there or that could be a plan? Then play Armstrong in the middle with Brown a have a gut feeling they might try it

If you could get 10lb on Biton what a CB he would be!

{Ed007's Note - There's s habit going round of moving DCM back into the CB spot van Gaal has done it with Carrick and Blind but I'm not for it. I'd also say that Bitton has made his position his own and there's no need to move him and weaken the position he's already playing in.}

31 Aug 2015 17:42:34
Well hopefully he can pass a ball and let Boyata throw himself in where it hurts because my heart's in my mouth every time he gets the ball at his feet.

31 Aug 2015 17:45:54
Ed I agree with what your saying about having a brute for a CH never had one who would go through players since Bobo . I was watching EPL highlights yesterday and someone made a good point after Loverens gaffe against West Ham in that modern CHs think they're all talented ball players and instead of booting it into row Z they want to be fancy or dribble the ball out usually ending in disaster . By all means have a defender who can pass but always have a player beside him who'll go through a brick wall for the team

{Ed007's Note - I've always liked my CBs to be two different types of defender, one of then a fearless, tough tackling no nonsense defender who will go flying in where it hurts clear the lines and beside him anothe a more cultured player as a ball-playing defender who has the vision and ability to help launch attacks or play the ball out of attack, keeping possession.
How does that sound DH, our very won version of Vidic and Ferdinand back when they were in their prime.}

31 Aug 2015 18:49:32
Fair point Ed, (y) just trying to accommodate all these MF!

No doubt about it though Biton our next biggest asset at our club

31 Aug 2015 18:16:04
Also javier mascherano started as a dm now a cb at barca

31 Aug 2015 19:13:02
The Celtic club are forever berated for not signing up young Scottish talent .
Now when they do, the fans are ridiculing again . Can the club ever win .

I would think all of us should give our new Croation defender a decent chance to
prove whether he is any good or not . At least give him a decent welcome.

31 Aug 2015 19:23:39
Surley he can't be any worse than iffy ambrosia

31 Aug 2015 19:30:46
Okay HenriksTongue just for you. John Park is absoluely hopeless.

Timalloy it was West Ham who were in for Ambrose.

31 Aug 2015 20:39:57
Ed your shout about Vidic and Ferdinand is spot on thing is I'm old enough to remember Roddy McDonald winning everything in the air and just clearing his lines while Pat Stanton doing all the football stuff on the deck . I suppose you could even go back to big Billy who wasn't too clever with the ball at his feet but in the air was majestic just like his battling qualities but had John Clark to do the mopping up

{Ed007's Note - Those are a bit before my time but you can see it if you watch old Lions matches. Remember Baresi and Maldini at they heart of the AC Milan defence, they were awesome.}
