Bailly,Boyata,Janko,GMS,Armstrong,Allan,Cifti,Scepovic. All the signings we have made under RD.
IMHO not 1 of these players is of the quality that they will come to our team and make a difference. Yes SA and GMS started well and did ok but did they improve us? Prob not. Armstrong (who I a fan of is played out of position and Stokes could easily do the same job).GMS flatters to deceive a little like Forrest and is inconsistent like Forrest so no better. Bailly? simply a sub. Janko has got talent but another work in progress. Allan is a questionable signing but let's wait and see. What I do know is he not better than what we have. Boyata is clearly not as good as Denayer and has a lot of improving to do. Matches may help this. Cifti is a decent sriker but again no better than what we had and not a natural goalscorer. Scepovic just seems a waste of money.
Is there anyone out there at the start of last season when RD took over would a believed 8 signings in we have failed to improve.
The board seems to take the blame for our signings these days. though I can't figure out why. Yes they have an influence to the size of the fee etc and the limit to spend but surely no manager allows a player to come in that he doesn't want.
So all in all RD has made 8 signings and none of them has inspired me. Time will tell if there is still room for improvement and I hope RD proves me totally wrong by getting to CL. But let me say now I am concerned about him.

{Ed007's Note - At Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern Munich etc the manager has very little input in what players are brought in and at CFC John Park has more input than RD has. I don't know why you're still struggling to understand that.
RD only met and spoke to Scott Allan for the first time on Friday.}

Ed we a are not Barca Real etc tho. These teams spend money to appease fans and to gain presidency etc. They also have a manager every season or 2 so no forward planning its just a case of buy the best out there.We are not in their spending league. I do not for 1 minute believe our manager is letting us sign players he doesn't want.

{Ed007's Note - What about Craig Gordon, he was signed before RD was even given the job and he had Collins forced on him as his assistant? Believe what you want but you're wrong, you need to realise the difference between a coach and a manager.
You've confused yourself with the no forward planning talk, the forward planning is that the coach is only another transient employee and when they're moved on there's a smooth transition to the next regime.}

I was going to raise the point about Gordon. If there was any case that indicates that CFCs 'head coach' has little or no input into signing players it's Craig Gordon.

Ed, I know you think the wages should be increased for certain players and like everybody I'm sure you'd like to see a better calibre of player brought in than a lot we have signed. As an inside man, who is to blame? PL or the major shareholders?

{Ed007's Note - I blame Pedro, it's his job to balance the books and look after the finances yet he has wasted millions on players like Boerrigter, Balde, Bangura, Pukki, Wakaso, Tonev, Miku, Steven Mouyokolo, Lassad Nouioui etc etc etc.}

I don't think Peter Lawwell or John Park are totally responsible for the list of players signed and not doing the job for Celtic .
These players would have to have certain. Abulities or Celtic wouldn't have been signed . I think most the problem with these players is that they were not prepared to dedicate themselves and to train and become the player Celtic wanted . In many cases signing for Celtic was a step up for them in earnings , in living in a modern Western City with many attractions that didn't improve their ability on the football pitch .

I think gms and Armstrong have improved Celtic if not we would see more of boerighter and stokes
I'd also say boyata and bailie improve the squad as denayer was only ever a loan signing made during Delia tenure
So compare boyata to Ambrose I'd take boyata
Armstrong to stokes Armstrong for me gms over boerighter and bailie and zaluskas I'd pass judgment as not saw enough
This is only my opinion though and not for once think I'm happy with out transfer policy
But if signing Scott Allen means no more cha mulgrew in cm then it might just be an inspired signing

Rayman if we beat malmo and make it to the champions league group stages that is defo an improvement from 12 months ago so why not judge our progress in a fortnight?

16 Aug 2015 16:30:29
The wasted millions for me is a split between PL and the scouting team. As to whether or not funds not being given for significant investment, that could be the shareholders or Pistol Pete. Not sure. I know it was John Reid but telling us all monies would be reinvested into the side was either a pile of crap or the policy has changed. And PL saying there isn't a mountain of cash, there must be a tuffet at least. We're not exactly Sevco.

ED obv we all knew about CG was ongoing same time as RD was ongoing so RD wudnt have a say there. But call me naïve but I just can't believe our manager is letting players come in he doesn't want. He HAS to be in the loop. Many many posters on here have said about him tapping into the Man City youths, the Scandinavian market etc etc.So how is it we want to tap into his contacts but blame others for the signings.RD himself has said he wanted to get the best of Scottish talent. Now that we get those players its PL or JP fault.I don't get it.IMHO I can't see the board bringing in RD to revolutionise the team, the way we play, diets, the way they live etc and say on you go Ronny but you don't get to choose your signings.

{Ed007's Note - If you want to believe in your wee fantasy then carry on, give us a shout when you get to 2015.}

I can't understand the harsh criticism that Armstrong and GMS have been subject to on some recent posts I've read. They are young players still developing and will prove to be good buys in time. Have folk forgotten already the decent contributions they made against Inter Milan for instance?

As for Scott Allan, give the lad a chance for Jaysus sake! Let's not forget that he was a player who caught Neil Lennon's eye a few years back before he signed for West Brom. Now that he's committed himself to the club for the next number of years, and whilst he continues to wear the green and white, then he deserves nothing less than our support.

Birminghambhoy is right if the team gets us into the Champions League , I won't judge the signings individually or who did what to get them here .

Jim Jim I think I can remember Mr Lawwell saying all the money got from sales of players was spent in the football side of the club .
I think some thought that he meant on the first team , but I think it would be everything to do with football in total .

16 Aug 2015 20:33:59
Good 1 ed, but I think its you that's living in fantasy land if you think RD has no input on signings lol.

{Ed007's Note - Don't twist what I said.}

Just as an fyi the reason we're slowly becoming man citys 2nd team is because lawells son works there not cus deila thinks that's where he can get the best players

16 Aug 2015 23:35:26
Utter bs birminghambhoy. Deila already had a dealt with Man City on several occassions before becoming Celtic manager. One player he signed, Bismark Adjei-Boateng is still at Stromgodset on loan

17 Aug 2015 13:44:31
Thats a few bob we've spent on cones and bibs then oldbhoy. Even if you take into account the wages of the new sports science side of things it's a tip of the iceberg.
