A bit miffed at RD's comments regarding Ciftci:

a) if he's a 'project' why put him in the lone striker role?
b) why did he publicly criticise his own choice of him over a proven and now popular scorer?

And I must say I'm still boggled at the Emilio thing. Did something happen behind the scenes?

Agree1 Disagree1

No he's been murder Players can go through bad patches he's naive defensively and a good team would exploite the space he leaves behind him. We still need a left back

Cavalcanti

i was discussing this last night with some mates ….

Would it not be better to "train" Ciftci hard so that he better understands the system prior to throwing him in? He appears less fit, more cumbersome and a little desperate at this early stage. Now Ciftci doesn't pick himself and so that is up to the manager but I don't see the sense is selecting a "project" or a "work in progress" or an "unfit" player for an ECL qualifier…

It may be that RD didn't rate Sjarnan (which is fine) hence the game time. I would be astonished if he fielded Ciftci against the Azerbaijanis next week with LG on the bench

The mulgrew decision I did understand however

I agree, paradisewon these games next week and the week after are going to be very difficult as they don't lose a lot of goals. They don't score a lot either, mind you maybe that's a good thing.I think we will need ALL our strikers to play their part, though obviously not all at the same time, but over the two legs.If we get through this round potentially the next one could be easier as we would be seeded.

Costa Tim we are seeded for the qarabag tie and will be seeded for the final qualifier if we make it but it is highly likely to be a more difficult tie next round.

Agree with Campsie he's a liability where ever he plays. He can't defend, can't head and don't even get all these people saying he should play higher up for his attacking threat, as he can't cross or shoot either!! I used to love the guy and can understand people staying loyal, but let's get real. he's quickly becoming only suitable for Scottish opponents and even then gets caught out sometimes

Take the point about emilio in the air: he's rotten, and a defender needs to have that. But I really can't see how folks think he can't cross. Many a month that's been all we have up front. & besides: what has he to aim for with the one striker formation? we have no capable forwards in the air: our center backs aren't too shabby from a set-piece but Emilio doesn't have them in front of him.
